This pieces beautifully combines the elements, the planets, and the twenty-two paths of the Tree of Life into this extraordinary cross. The Order of the Golden Dawn, as it existed from its beginnings in 1887 into the early 20th century, was a preparatory school and an intense training ground into Hermetics, qabalah, alchemy, and the Western Mysteries. This training began with the process of initiation which sets in motion the necessary alchemical fire to transform the inner lead to gold. The Golden Dawn incorporated the Rosicrucian symbols of the Rose and the Golden cross into this cross. The twenty-two petals of the rose corresponds to the twenty-two paths of the Tree of Life and the twenty-two letters of the Hebrew alphabet. This cross is crafted with silver plated pewter and has four Swarovski crystals, one at each leg, and a fifth large crystal in the center, all red. There is a gold tinted sunburst from behind the cross, with gold tinted bumps at the cross ends. The central rose is surrounded with red enamel.
