5 out of 5 stars "You HAVE to Hear This!"   August 18, 2006

There is a phenomenon known as the "Pod Person" review. This is when an adult is so impressed with a movie, book or CD that is ostensibly intended for children that they start trying to sell other ADULTS on it as well.

For example, when the movie TOY STORY came out, every adult I knew would ask if I had seen it. "Oh, you HAVE to," the Pod Person would exclaim, "it's not just for kids!" As you can imagine, this is mildly annoying.

I swore never to be a Pod Person, and if it wasn't for Justin Roberts, I would keep that promise. But after listening to this bright, breezy, funny, infinitely catchy and wonderfully crafted album, I want to encourage every adult I know to give it a spin. MELTDOWN is just darned good pop music. It'll have you and the kids singing along and laughing.

Tell a friend.

I highly recommend this CD! It is a true example of music that BOTH kids and adults can love. Justin Roberts has a real instinct for children's concerns (e.g. "maybe the monster's afraid of me") but the music is so fun, funny and rockin' that I enjoy listening to it again and again. It's a relief to get away from Old MacDonald!

5 out of 5 stars Justin Roberts Rocks!   January 24, 2007

My kids and I (3 and 4)absolutely love his music. I know all the words to all the albums by heart. My son rides the school bus and currently loves "Yellow Bus" from same titled album. I would love to take the kids to see Justin perform. All his songs from upbeat to mellow are just great. I even listen to the songs without the kids in the car.

5 out of 5 stars Avoid a meltdown with this CD!   February 19, 2007

Justin Roberts has a very keen sense about how kids think, and is able to translate that knowledge into catchy pop music for children that won't make you want to gouge your ears out.

In fact, it made me want to listen to all his other CDs right away. If he knows that when I say "just a minute, it means more than just a minute", what other little secrets of parents or kids might he be onto?! I might get some tips on the preschooler psyche from him! But even if I don't, I'm sure to have a rockin' good time with my kids.

5 out of 5 stars Do CDs wear out if played too much?   March 24, 2006

Use your best speakers, turn it loud, and find some children! Sure, they'll love it, but ultimately they simply offer a great excuse to listen incessantly to Justin's tightly crafted, complex, funny, 'i'm digging life (whether these are my kids or not)' jams.

While I don't want to interrupt a single song cuz it annoys the kids (my interrupting - not the song), I also want to hit pause a lot and ask 'wow, did you HEAR that?'. Each time I listen, I catch another little riff, ingenious little background something or other, twist in a lyric's meaning, or rythmic eyepopper. These nuggets don't quit, and each song is so full that I actually find them all too short. Maybe my attention span actually has increased since age 2.

And I'm not sure if it's cuz I have young children now or what, but I find myself very affected by each song. This album has already offered me individually as well as my family lots to have a great time about. Sorry, a little heavy there. In a word: TIGHT!
