5 out of 5 stars Incredibly Magnificent   November 13, 1999
5 out of 6 found this review helpful

Klank's "StillSuffering"was the first Christian cd I bought coming out of my Satanism. It really helped me, and for once I didn't feel like every Christian was ridiculing me. He really knew what he was talking about. Some people may not be able to handle the lyrics if they've lived a sheltered life. He explains all that at the beginning of the cover. He was magnificent.

5 out of 5 stars incredible album, deals with issues that nobody else will   March 23, 2001

I first found out about Klank when I started trying to get all the related projects to Klay Scott(Circle of Dust, Celldweller, etc...) as he used to be Circle's guitarist. Little was I prepared for the incredible music he made on his own. Still Suffering showed that Darren had the ability to come out of Klay's massive shadow and make his own powerful music. Although on the surface, it may sound like typical industrial/death metal, it is far different than the product that most of today's artists put out. Klank deals with issues such as abuse by others, neglect, loneliness, and a deep desire for peace inside. He is striving to really find God, and his lyrics relect it in a deep and meaningful way. This cd is an emotional Journey. Klank addresses issues that every Christian deals with, but nobody wishes to face in today's shallow music industry. For this reason, his cd is worth buying even if you are not a fan of industrial music. With production credits going to Klay Scott(and with a bit of help from AP2 cohort Buka as well), the cd is excellent.

1 out of 5 stars great music terrible lyrics   October 16, 2004

This is NOT a Christian CD- there is no hope and is only filled with hate filled lyrics- not a sliver of Christ! Believe me I wanted to find the hope- the music is amazing.

Example: "Hate pulses straight through my vains Every time I hear your name... Forgiveness has been denied You have left me scarified" (from the song "Scarified")

Romans 1:16 "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek."

4 out of 5 stars Great CD for venting   April 30, 2003

There's a simple qualifying factor to liking this CD. Ask yourself, "have I ever been betrayed?" If yes, this CD is for you.
Darren, coming from Circle of Dust, doesn't surprise us with some strange new sound, but instead sticks to the industrial sound we love. Though similar, Klank definitly has a sound of their own. With harder guitars that drive the songs, to rougher vocals, Klank brings a message of survival through suffering.
Keep in mind this CD is not for everyone. Those living in the Christian mindset of, "life is peachy and we shouldn't dwell on anything bad," will definitly be put off by this album.
With that said, this CD is great. A must for any hardcore fan. Only frustrating thing about Klank is the spiritual vagueness as to what they believe. I mean, if you're a Christian, don't be ashamed to say it.
I'll continue to listen though. If anything, they make you think.

5 out of 5 stars Industrial Metal for Christ!   April 15, 2003
3 out of 5 found this review helpful

Klank released their debut album "Still Suffering" on the Seattle based Tooth & Nail Records and it is said that he signed his contract with them in blood! After spending 18 weeks on the CMJ Top 40 charts and having their single "Downside" added to over 170 radio stations nationwide, Klank formed a strong fan base with their constant touring and intense live shows. Melody is prevalent within deep layers of guitars, keyboards, samples, live and programmed drums. Deep heartfelt, introspective lyrics that express a longing for inner peace, emotional mood swings, bitterness, despair and even elements of hope and happiness are wrapped up in the musical landscape. Fans of Fear Factory, Machinehead, Static-X, and fans of Industrial Metal should check into this. It's one of the finest in the genre.
