Stand Out is a MOVEMENT...not just MUSIC! May 6, 2008 22 out of 22 found this review helpful
Tye Tribbett & G.A. have definitely set a STANDard with this album. Before concentrating on the music - I was drawn to the message. Indeed we can all see the enemy is coming in like a flood, but where's the STANDard in our homes, churches, and our own lives? If Christ lives inside us, then "WE" are the ones who are to raise the STANDard with our lives. As Tye says, "no time for mixing light - with the darkness/Be black or be white - no more shades of grey/Be seperated be holy - No matter what you do don't bow/And even if you STAND alone - STAND anyhow" WE REPRESENT THE KINGDOM OF GOD!!
I love Tye's new album, the first and title track is straight banging, and the lyrics cannot be sung without causing you to examine how much you really STAND out in your own life. Tye and G.A. hit on some of everything...Praise leaders listening to secular music, living together before marriage, secular ringtones on your phone, etc. My personal favorite issue is the mixing of secular music/artist with gospel. I'm sorry people - OUR culture/way of life is Holiness, and Hip-Hop is "THEIR" culture/way of life. When you blend Holiness and Hip-Hop you don't get Holy Hip-Hop, you get ADULTERY!! Praise God for Tye & G.A. even with all the new hype surrounding his music, he has remained true to the message and refused to comprimise!!
I really loved "I Need You", I heard him throw in "How Great Is Our God" at the end of it on YouTube and blended it perfectly...this is a great song. My other favorites include "Let Us Worship" and "So Amazing" which he blended together perfectly to cause it to sound like one song. I learned from a P&W mentor of mine that P&W should flow from song to song. We should never stop our worship to transition keys or songs. If worship is mindless it is meaningless, our songs should flow together in their theme and not just be chosen at random, they should engage the "minds" of the people consistently. Without a doubt though, I believe "I Made It Through" is the best song on this album - its vintage Tye & G.A., banging lyrics, and music that makes you wanna shout. Last of all, "Chasing After You" will help usher you right into His presence. This song will probably be slept on, but is one of the top songs on the album. True worshippers will adore hearing/singing this song.
My only concern and prayer is hoping that the message will not be missed due to the music on this album. IMO it is totally different than the last album. The music is SSOOOooo heavy on this album, musicians are gonna love it. I can't wait to see the DVD. In the middle tracks there is an OVERWHELMING abundance of uptempo churchy/party type songs until you get to "Chasing After You". I just hope that the abundance of "Sound Check" showing their skills does not cause people to lose the message of the STAND out movement. I am thoroughly enjoying this album...I would definitely recommend it to all Tye & G.A. supporters. STAND out isn't music...its a MOVEMENT!! I welcome your comments...
HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! May 7, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This cd is off the chain. I didn't think he can top Victory Live but this brother gets better and better and better. This cd has a lil something for everyone. A little Roc, funk, jazz, hip hop, 1980's sounds and of course praise and worship. I like every song on the cd. If someone gives this cd a bad review, its because they dont think outside of the box. Tye does and shows it in his music. I can see Tye Tribbett and Hillsong doing a tour, uniting everyone together. Tye please dont stop doing what you are doing. We love your music. Hopefully we can vote 'Good in the Hood' and 'Look up' on BET or MTV.

SADLY I MUST SAY.... May 17, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
With only three CD's under their belt, Sadly I must say Tye Tribbett & GA has SURPASSED KIRK FRANKLIN! This is strictly my own opinion, but Kirks relatively new album (which I previewed and did not purchase) is more secular than God Driven, I still support the man, but...anyway back to Tye! He incorporates The Word in almost every track on every CD! He has stayed consistent in the regard he & GA are breaking Norms. I must say this CD has differed from his previous albums but Victory is very different from his Title debut. His music truly glorifies God and takes himself out of the picture and the true focus is on Jesus and Our Heavenly Father!
With that said, This CD is riddled with fantastic beats, awesome blends of vocal talents, and a band that can move the crowd and still serenade the Heart of God!
MY FAVORITE TRACK IS *BLESS THE LORD (SON OF MAN)* THE BEST IN MY OPINION! Please disregard anyone that might trash this album (or even praise it for that matter) FIND OUT FOR YOURSELF!!!!!! BUT THIS ALBUM IS A MUST GET :)
