4 out of 5 stars A good addition to a Nightwish-collection   August 10, 2005
4 out of 4 found this review helpful

'Kuolema Tekee Taiteilijan' is the 3rd single of Nightwish's latest album 'Once'. I would recommend it especially to Nightwish-collectors and true fans. If you liked 'Once', you'll probably be satisfied with this single, because most songs are other versions of 'Once'-songs.

This is the tracklist with my ratings:

1. KUOLEMA TEKEE TAITEILIJAN: A Finnish ballad sung by Tarja. It's the same version as the one you will find on 'Once'. Although I like this song, it's not my favourite. ***1/2

2. SYMPHONY OF DESTRUCTION (LIVE): A Megadeth-cover, performed by Nightwish during their 2004 tour. This one is sung by Marco solo. I think this song could might as well be written by Nightwish, it sounds familiar. ****

3. WHERE WERE YOU LAST NIGHT: Another cover, originally performed by Ankie Bagger. With this song, we hear a more pop-style than metal. It's a catchy song, but I don't really like it. **1/2

4. WISH I HAD AN ANGEL (DEMO VERSION): Slightly different from the album version. It was nice to hear something that wasn't fully 'finished'. It sounds a little rougher than the album version, I think. ****

5. CREEK MARY'S BLOOD (INSTRUMENTAL ORCHESTRAL VERSION): This is the best song on this single. This is not really Nightwish, but their song 'Creek Mary's Blood' performed only by an orchestra. To me, it sounded very 'soundtrackish'. A truly beautiful piece of music. *****

6. GHOST LOVE SCORE (INSTRUMENTAL VERSION): 'Ghost Love Score' is my favourite Nightwish song ever. The version with the vocals, however, is way better than this one. This could also be on a movie soundtrack. ***1/2

Note: tracks 3, 4 and 6 can also be found on the 'Wish I Had An Angel'-single.
