Romantic, playful and poingnant July 27, 2006 17 out of 17 found this review helpful
Full disclosure: I'm doing a documentary on these guys. Still, I think I can be objective enough to say that this is a terrific album. The boys have beautiful voices that work so well together: Jason is big with the "wow" notes, deMarco's voice is pure warmth and both know how to balance vocal gymnastics with storytelling and emotion. Highlights include:
"This Is Love": Pure, unapologetic romance in a lovingly crafted song. It gives me shivers.
"Missing You": An intimate, haunting ballad living somewhere between the romantic and the neurotic.
"Trying to Get to You" & "Just In Time": Pop music at it's best. Great songs for driving or when you need to be perked up. The swapping of verses creates boy-meets-boy effect that few artists have dared to do.
"Till the End of Time": This is one of those songs that creates a painting in one's mind. An eerie, sprawling declaration of love with just a dash of disturbing as the apocalyptic title implies.
Best of all, the album works as a whole, taking the listener on a journey in the way great albums like Fleetwood Mac's Rumours or Madonna's "Like A Prayer" do. Recommended!
What a story!!!! July 13, 2006 16 out of 16 found this review helpful
When I first got this CD I kinda skimmed thru the tracks, as I was already familiar with "Trying to Get to You" and "This is Love", having already bought the Remix CD.
Initially, I listed to the first minute or so of each song to get a feel of what the album had to offer. Some very radio friendly, others, well very, quirky. On the 2nd listen, was still not very attentative and just 'listening'...
BUT THEN!!!
THEN when I FINALLY sat down with the lyrics and listened and read word for word....I GOT IT!!! This is a CONCEPT album...A STORY!! From beginning to end.
From the first tracks "Trying to get to You", "Falling", and "This is love", it is boy meets boy and they fall in love.
Then, things get rocky...suspicion, and jealousy ("Stormy Weather") and story song, (in the same vain as R.Kelley's 'the Closet') "I Found the Number" isnt so quirky, when u follow the story).
The boys then split or take time apart and its hell("Missing you")...but happy, happy they MAKE UP!!!
Our boys finally realize that they cant live without each other with "Be the Light" and lastly... Realizing that they will, most certainly, love each other "Till the End of Time"!
This plays less like a pop album and more like a broadway musical, in the style of RENT.
Its genius, masterful and a BEAUTIFUL, however, familiar tale to many people, both gay and straight.
BRAVO!!!!
Beautiful Harmony July 15, 2006 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
Have you heard the wonderful first track "Trying To Get To You," remixed by DJ extraordinaire Tracy Young, at your local club? It's a masterpiece. Not to be outdone by the talented Ms. Young, L.E.X. also offers three remixes, including a heart-pounding ten-and-a-half minute version that'll get you movin' and groovin' even if you're not in a dancing state of mind. THAT'S how infectious it is. Moving on to the rest of this hot boy duo's CD are eleven other tracks that'll leave you breathless and begging for more of their soaring vocals and exquisitely penned songs. The beautifully talented and handsome deMarco describes the album as "Romantic pop with big vocals and lots of harmonies." The highlights include "This Is Love," "Where The Sun Meets The Sea," the amazingly romantic "Just In Time" (no, not the standard, but a beautifully crafted love song), "Save Me, "Missing You" and the closing title track which Jason says "represents the infinite power of love that you experience once you find the one you've been waiting for." A gorgeous treat is the song "Be The Light" which deMarco describes as, "The story of our life as we battle what others want us to be by staying true to our beliefs in who we are." If you were lucky enough to have caught this winsome duo performing at the Equity California Awards in Palm Springs a few months ago, you already know what I'm talking about. If you didn't and can't resist a gorgeous duo whose looks are only enhanced by their talent, I think you owe it to yourself to pick up this wonderful CD. This album is evidence of the kind of love that J&D have for each other as soul mates and the type of love we, as listeners, aspire to. Till The End Of Time is appropriate for any time - most especially now.
Wow! You will be amazed! July 10, 2006 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I just got this CD and it's fantastic!!! (and two more for my friends) I really enjoyed the track called "This is love" because of its very, very deep meaningful words and upbeat vocals. In my opinion, this duo is wonderful and on their way up. I can't wait to see them on their tour, but in the meantime, you can catch a video of this song at logoonline.com. You will appreciate their music even more. Read what others say too on their website: www.jasonanddemarco.com
Outstanding July 12, 2006 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
This is an excellent duo on a fantastic cd. It is an outstanding addition to anyone's cd collection - especially the title song "till the end of time". I normally would not have listened to a duo that has done primarily christian pop, but these guys are just over the top in talent!!
