4 out of 5 stars More Rocky Praise from Mercy Me   December 5, 2007
10 out of 12 found this review helpful

When Mercy Me exploded on the Christian music scene, they quickly became known for their rock/pop worship. This new release is another winner sure to please their multitude of fans.

Artists often put challenge songs near the end, but Mercy Me opens up with a great challenge. "Goodbye Ordinary" calls for Christians to live extraordinary lives because there is so much more to life. It's a solid pop/rock opener.

But if you are looking for worship, look no further then the next track. The rockier "Time Has Come" is a call to worship God. It's a fun track that captures the message of Mercy Me.

Other standouts include "God with Us," which marvels over the God of the universe saving us, "Grace Tells Another Story," which reminds us that God can change anyone, and the disc closer, "Finally Home," which imagines a reunion in Heaven and meeting God there.

Stylistically, this is a cross between their recent, rocky release and their more pop/rock earlier releases. What does this mean exactly? It's rockier then their early stuff, but it has a bit more pop then "Coming Up to Breath" did.

But the style is the only strike against this CD. Mercy Me has a tendency to all blend together for me, and it happens again here. The songs are great, but they sound so similar it's hard to pick them apart.

In reality I'd give this disc a 4.5, but since I can't, I've rounded down. It may not win the group any new fans, but their loyal fans will love it.

5 out of 5 stars A first listen WOW   November 21, 2007

How many albums hit you as brilliant from the first listen? Very few in my opinion. This new one from MercyMe is an exception. I've only listened to it once and already I can see it as being arguably their best outing yet. The lyrics seem typically solid, and the music pulls you right in. There is not a dead track on it. "Time Has Come" is the early front-runner track for me. Brilliant stuff.

5 out of 5 stars Simply Amazing!   November 23, 2007

"All that is Within Me" is another masterpiece of praise and worship. I have been listening to the title song over and over again, but I never get bored of it. Instead every time I listen to it, it reminds of how wonderful God has been in my life even though I have failed Him in several occasions. This song is all about surrendering yourself to the Lord to be as used as an instrument so that His name would be glorified in everything that you do.

5 out of 5 stars A Solid Album   December 3, 2007

MercyMe's latest release, 'All That is Within Me', is a quality CD from start to finish.

Although I do not think that it is their best album ever, it is certainly very good. An album that is average for MercyMe would be top notch for most groups.

The sound is a bit heavier rock and roll than their previous albums. They pull this off very well. Lyrically, it is solidly Christian as all of their CDs are.

There are several tracks that standout. Among those are the following: Goodbye Ordinary, Time Has Come, God With Us, and Finally Home. I find the song, 'Finally Home' to be particularly touching. Anyone who has lost a parent will likely have the same reaction.

There is also a DVD from a recent concert that contains live performances of several of their all time great songs including: I Can Only Imagine, Hold Fast, Word of God Speak, Bring The Rain, and a few others.

This album is well worth the price. I recommend it.

5 out of 5 stars Best of 2007 by Artist of the Decade!   December 21, 2007

It's hard to argue against MercyMe being the best Christian artist of the decade and this album just adds to their stellar career achievements. Easily the most accessible Christian artist whose music is heard out and about in stores and restaurants and on radio without ever straying from the Gospel. "God With Us", "You Reign", "Finally Home" and "Time Has Come" are all Biblical and catchy and rank among MercyMe's best songs. MercyMe's sound and lyrical depth has only grown with each album and in my opinion, this is the best of 2007.
