The darkest release yet, truly putting the doom into "country doom" March 12, 2008 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Laying off their country sound just a little, TPB (moon)shines in this instant gloom classic. This is easily best genre album of the year so far. Intentionally WAY more dark then their other recordings, this cd is full of haunting piano melodies and torturous screams.
The sound varies from song to song, sometimes sounding rough and barren, sometimes sounding like you're in a cave near an evil carnival, and sometimes sounding like an eerie children's lullaby... and despite the pure blackness this disc exudes, many of the songs still come out pretty, in a gothic sort of way.
This album could appeal to anyone from country-western to straight up doom metal.
With The Plague, Lonesome Wyatt and The Minister have really spread their wings, and cast a desparate shadow over the music industry.
Excellent November 24, 2008 This is a great, dark CD. You must have an appreciation for all music and some fondness for this kind of music to enjoy it. However, I thought that this CD is excellent.
