Screaming Masterpiece April 15, 2007 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
Even if you are not devoted to alternative music or music videos, this one will get your attention thanks to marvelous cinemaphotography and outstanding editing. Then there's Iceland and Bjork as a backdrop. Buy now before it goes out of print. The soundtrack CD of this production is OK, but the video has five times more impact.
So Good! April 24, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Saw a copy of it at a friend's place and borrowed it. It's so cool, I had to get my own. One of the best music docs I've seen! Good soundtrack too. It's really fun to watch the Icelanders making music with saws, hammers and nails. Bjork is by far not the only talent up there. Sigur Ros' opening in New York is brilliant!!
Great Work! May 6, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Screaming Masterpiece is an awesome documentary about the current music scene in Iceland. There's no need to have a history about it because almost all of the artists use their roots and ancestry as their main influences. For such a small island country Iceland has hundreds of different bands that make many different genres of music that all still relate to each other. This is one of the most interesting and entertaining documentrys I have ever seen. It is WORTH seeing.

Indeed a masterpiece! This is a wonderful documentary on the music scene in Iceland. Going through all of the genres of music, from ambient to punk to hip hop to classical, there is something for everyone. There are interesting interviews with several bands/performers and amazing performances! On top of that, the top notch cinematography and editing perfectly compliment the mood. The people over in Iceland are certainly doing it right, and this dvd shows it!
A Decent Review of Icelandic Notables August 1, 2008 If you happen to already be interested in some Icelandic artist(s) and/or are interested in the culture of Iceland itself, then this short documentary is a decent acquisition for $15. I wished it were more in depth (and thus longer); I mean, they run through about 25 artists rather quickly, but it's a nice, compact sneak-peak at everything if that's all you're looking for. Not bad, but not too great either.
