1 out of 5 stars Compared to prior SCORN releases.. this one is B-O-R-I-N-G!!   July 19, 2005

I love Scorn, don't get me wrong. The prior albums were great. But I think there's something MISSING. Obviously that which is missing is Nik. When I got this album intially, I listened to it with full attention but found it repetitive (in a bad way) and boring with no depth. I decided later on to give it another try but this time as background music.
Still boring.
And bordering on annoying.
I don't think Mick Harris should be able to ride on his old material and have people release this lazy material. This album reminds me of some vinyl record that an unknown electronic artist put out on his own. Not an established artist such as Harris.

Sorry, Scorn fanatics, sometimes you have a call a spade a spade.

5 out of 5 stars scorn is beyond the petty concept of individual opinions.   November 15, 2000

the whole concept behind scorn and the entire post-post-post industrial, techno, etc. minimalist dub thing is that the music is totally devoid of "meaning". or, at least the kind of meaning that weighs down such trite fair as "popular" music. that is to say, that the above reviewer is totally missing the point of Scorns work. or maybe we just see it differently. anyway, if someone just wrote a piece of software to crank out scorn-esq. albums every month, I'd buy all of it. actually, I've just totally confused myself. I am however glad that there is one other person on the face of the earth that likes scorn.

3 out of 5 stars An o.k. later-era album   October 20, 1999

Another Mick Harris solo effort under the Scorn banner, this album doesn't vary much from the style he once chose with "Gyral". Mick is still one of the best drummers ever, but in the late '90s his work missed inspiration and energy. For those who don't own any Scorn album yet, "Zander" is a good first purchase. For the others, especially for those who have already listened to "Evanescence", "White Irises Blind" and "Logghi Barogghi", this album could be a rather one-dimensional affair. Mick's rhythm patterns wear thin after a few listens, and this album lacks the vocals/guitars/melodies of early Scorn releases. However, it's still much more interesting than plenty of music coming from today's drum n'bass/ambient house scene. Other recommendable Harris releases in my opinion are:

Mick Harris & E. Bernocchi ~ "Total station" (4 stars)

Equations of Eternity ~ "Veve" (4 stars)
