Good release from RIB October 27, 2003 12 out of 14 found this review helpful
Razed In Black has to be one of my favorite bands I have discovered over the last couple years and I was excited to get this release. I do have one major gripe with Razed In Black however, what the hell is with all the high end on all the RIB CD's? I DJ at three different clubs so a lot of people might not ever notice what I'm talking about, but you put any of their discs into a club's sound system and its a battle of the high end. With that said this is a great CD, as a DJ I find myself playing the following songs a lot. Blush Am I 2 Blame I'll Damage You Visions (A23 mix) The disc also includes some nifty live video and really made me want to see RIB live. As both a industrial related music fan and a DJ I would recommend adding this CD to your collection.
The best industrial album of 2003 October 17, 2004 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
Razed in black have always taken a bit of a different approach to industrial music. They used to be a little on the harsh side, with crunchy speed-metal style guitars and lots of screeching bleeping synth noises that kind of layered and formed a backdrop. The beats have always been fabulous and the lyrics, though quite disturbing, are intelligent and poetic. One of the most innovative bands to come into the electro scene in years. Then along comes Damaged. This is a little more on the poppy side of things, but only because the production quality is much better than on previous albums. You can hear the influence of the multitude of different groups in the genre that helped write and produce this album. The beats are infectious, the lyrics are tantilizing. This is a club-rave frenzy in a box. I have never heard anything quite like it and expect I never will again, unless R.I.B out-do themselves whith their NEXT album. A must have for anyone who likes Dance electronica/ industrial/ trance and the like. The remix disc is also pretty good, though I like most of the originals better, the remixes are different enough to make the second cd an entity of its own.
Surprised October 3, 2003 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
It seems like many people either love or hate this release, due to the styalistic diversion from past RIB releases. I personally love how the band has mixed all their styles into one release, by that I refer to the style of Transmutator, dj RIB and DJ skOOby. They didn't limit themselves to any particular genre and as a result developed a beutiful hybrid. When I first got the CD when in Boston i didn't stop listening to it for a month, every time I listen to it I find little bits that i didn't remember from before, it's like a new CD everytime. This release is a great deal, it come with two discs, one of original releases, the second filled with remixes and two videos. All this for a price less than most regular CD's. Amazing album, trance elements boggle your mind! July 27, 2004 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Especially if you listen to the album Sacrificed after this one. The change in music style just boggles my mind!
But to this one, I love the trancey elements they have incorporated in this release. The way Share This Poison ends, just screams trance.
Yes, I know this is supposed to be a Goth/Industrial band, but it seems like with this release, they are just testing the waters of trance elements, and in my opinion, if they made a pure trance album, it would rock. Seriously.
Shining points on the album are Blush, Share This Poison, There Goes My Head....ummm....the whole CD. I loved every second of this CD. Highly recommended to any Razed in Black fan, whose mind is open to some change. Granted, this album is NOTHING like Sacrificed, but both, to me, scream Razed in Black. Different sides maybe, but both are awesome.
You must buy this album or i will kill you! March 27, 2005 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
This album is fantastic. I would play this album over, and over again until its so old, i would make a hooker's fanny look unused. Anyhow its a must have album and if you don't buy this album, well, huh, you must have the I.Q. of a carrot!!
