Editorial Reviews:

Album Description
When AIDEN visited the VICTORY RECORDS compound in 2004, the record company suspected that they had something very special on their hands. The energetic youngsters from Seattle had a vicious live energy that was comparable to THE STOOGES, MOTLEY CRUE, or THE MURDER CITY DEVILS. Who would have thought they would balloon into the global phenomenon that they have become? They have won awards, graced magazine covers, and won the honor of sharing arena stages with their heroes (all in the band's rise of 2 mere years). They have faced their cynics square in the face and raised a middle finger to anyone who has dismissed them. More importantly, they have touched thousands across the world with their breath-taking live performances and their dedication to fans. Few bands today can be so iconic on the stage and so humble and approachable after the show. On August 21st, the world will, once again, be taken by storm as AIDEN unveils their next chapter, known as Conviction. Lead singer Wil describes the record: Conviction is about loving the darkness that will destroy you, its about tearing yourself apart from inside, its about feeling that the world is crashing around you with no hope in sight and all you can do is laugh. It's about falling down then picking yourself back up and believing. Feelings that have eluded me for years now have bubbled to the surface and are finally seeing the light of day. To say that the band have matured is putting it too simply. Conviction is an excellent next step in the path of a band who is not content with staying static in their musical direction. The songs on the record resemble the solemn songs of THE CURE and JOY DIVISION, while infusing the high dramatic energy of MARILYN MANSON and DAVID BOWIE. It is rare that we get to be a part of a band who are so special at this stage of their lives. Conviction will be the springboard that will launch AIDEN to become one of the biggest rock bands in 2007. Mark our word, taking the world by storm was just the beginning.

4 out of 5 stars Will convince you!   September 20, 2007

I was browsing through Virgin Megastore on Oxford Street in London this summer when I noticed a young crowd eagerly awaiting the arrival of a band for a free show as well as CD signing. The band showed up on time and played just five songs, thanking their fans profusely every chance they got, and what a reception they got!

That band was Aiden, that was my introduction to them, and I picked up their CD. I thought they were a British band, but turns out they are American, with a sound similar to My Chemical Romance or Greenday; chugging guitar riffs, and dark, cryptic lyrics.

Standouts include the dance/rock "One love" (muted verses, loud chorus), the hard hitting "She will love you" (screeching guitars), "Teenage queen", the atmospheric "Darkness", "Believe", "Moment", and the melodramatic ballad "The sky is falling" (which shifts into high gear near the end), the latter two among the five songs they performed that afternoon.

With their great edgy punk sound, there's no reason why Aiden shouldn't be huge!

4 out of 5 stars Aiden Delivers Emo With Melody   August 22, 2007

I got interested in Aiden after Victory records had their media blitz a year or two ago for the Nightmare album. Songs like Last Sunrise, and Die Romantic had me hooked on this relatively new band. With the release of the Rain EP, I noticed the band moving a bit away from the screamo and adding more melody and harmony in their music. Some of it was quite good! With the release of Conviction, the band show that their music and lyrics are growing with their experience. The album is very melodic. Missing is the screamo / emo background, now replaced by harmonies and piano! So far I like the change, and I feel this album will grow on me with time to become a great album. I hope that the fans from the early days of Aiden will embrace this album and give it a chance.

Wow, Aiden has gone and changed their sound...in a good way. They sound so beautiful, lyrically and musically. To me, there sound is more mellow..but i think everyone can enjoy it. So go out and buy the new cd!!

3 out of 5 stars Aiden abandons horror rock, embraces the '80s.   December 22, 2007

When Aiden officially crawled out of the Seattle underground with 2005's Nightmare Anatomy, they had a great story (singer wiL Francis trades addiction for rock 'n' roll), undeniable style (think AFI meet the Misfits), and a clever marketing plan (how cool is calling yourself a "horror rock" band?). All that was missing were the songs. Conviction is a dramatic leap forward. Where the unmemorable Nightmare offered sloppy creep-core and paint-by-numbers emo, the band's impressively tight, '80s-tinted third full-length actually has hooks. The best track, "Believe," starts out a piano-plinked lullaby and then brilliantly morphs into a stadium-sized bro-hymn. Equally dramatic is "The Sky Is Falling," which switches off the Marshalls for soft-focus acoustic guitar and 4 a.m.-reverie vocals. It's not all the second coming of The Black Parade, though, as U2-lite guitars and neon-flavored synths make "One Love" and "She Will Love You" sound like dated leftovers from the soundtrack to Pretty In Pink. Still, give Aiden credit for reinventing themselves. Two years ago, no one would have thought it possible.
