Mikko is a blues/rock genius March 16, 2004 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
after listening to the album i feel that rock has a chance to survive in this Pop crazed world. The band is well composed and know what they are doing. Mikko sings and plays guitar, his voice is rather unique and deff. ads a lot to the album. Ville has an unique style of drums which are also a welcome change fromt the normal pop punk culture of america. Mige is on bass shines through as normal. So the album is solid and is a succes in my opinion, and i recomend it to anyone looking for real rock music.
A good throwback album.... May 20, 2005 6 out of 8 found this review helpful
Bieng a fan of the viva la bam show on mtv,it introduced me the to the song king of rock'n roll witched I liked but had no idea who the singer or band was.I'll be honest! i'm not the biggest H.I.M. fan in the world, so when I found out it was a H.I.M. side project I wasn't thrilled, but i gave it a chance anyway and it was a surprisngly good record.I liked the 70's style hard rock with a bit of twist.Dope danny & never been in love are good songs, and the track titled we gonna rockin tonight, sounds just like a KISS record.I love classic hard rock always have always will, and I'm glad to see Daniel Lioneye is influenced by it.
damn good June 22, 2004 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is straight up music to rock out to. If you've watched Viva La Bam, you know how badass the "King of Rock N' Roll" song is. Every other track has the same energy and badass sound (except for eldorado baby). The Bob Dylan cover sounds more like they wanted to cover it like Guns N' Roses did. Maybe a cover of a cover? Anyway, this album kicks a lot more ass than a lot of H.I.M. stuff but don't get the wrong idea, H.I.M. is still great. Either way, buy this.
excellent January 20, 2005 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
HIM being one of my favorite bands, and this being their side project, i knew i would like this record, i just didn't realize how much. it's a bit heavier than most HIM records, with more emphasis on straight up rock than anything, and definitely worth getting. most people who watch viva la bam will probably recognize that show's theme, "king of rock and roll," but there are far more reasons to get this record than just that. this record is solid rock all the way through, and much better than anything you'll see on MTV. if there are three cd's you should go buy right now, it's daniel lioneye, HIM's razorblade romance and clutch's awesome "blast tyrant." likeminded people can reach me at birdman@g2gm.com.
King of Rock n Roll! November 17, 2003 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
This cd is awesome. It features members from the best band in the world, HIM. Mige plays bass. Ville plays drums, and Linda plays guitar and sings. This is a really good traditional rock n roll cd. Reminds me of days back when music was music and people weren't using music just to sell their looks. They even cover the classic "Knocking on Heaven's Door" by Bob Dylan. It amazes me how good this is, seeing it as how only 2 songs were meant to be, and the rest just kinda came together in the studio. Great stuff guys.
