Coldplay's First Release Ever November 29, 2003 76 out of 77 found this review helpful
In 1998, Coldplay was toiling away in London pubs when they got noticed by someone from Fierce Panda Records, which offered the band a one single release contract. In March 1999 the label released this 3 track single, which immediately attracked great buzz, leading to a bidding war among bigger labels and some months later the band signed a "major label" deal with Capitol."Brothers & Sisters" (3 tracks; 11 min.) is a fascinating look into early-Coldplay. The title track is quite good, and the band later re-recorded the track as a B side for the "Trouble" single in 2000. "Easy to Please" is a dreamy track, with Chris Martin crooning away over sparse instruments. "Only Superstition" finds the band rocking harder, a nice track. In all, a very welcome re-release of Coldplay's earliest recording. Definitely highly recommended for those of you who (like me) are charmed by the "Parachutes" sound.
This is great! A great 3rd album to buy as a Coldplay fan. November 8, 2004 32 out of 36 found this review helpful
I love Parachutes and A Rush of Blood TO THe Head. I picked this up off Amazon.com used for a few bucks, and it was well worth the money for 3 short songs.
BROTHERS AND SISTERS: 8.7/10
A wonderful song...but sadly, with a very irritating beginning. WHY, Coldplay? It seriously wasn't necessary? All in all, though, it has awesome lyrics and Chris Martin's voice is as great as ever.
EASY TO PLEASE: 9.5/10
Now THIS is the highlight of the compilation! It has dreamy guitar and piano accompanied by eerie inaudible voices in the background. This should've been a bonus track on a Parachutes collector's edition. My only complaint(s)? Make it longer, and include it on PARACHUTES! C'mon, it deserves it! This is FANTASTIC!
ONLY SUPERSTITION: 8.8/10
Some part of a rocker and a good finale, even though Easy To Please would be better as one. I love the guitar and drums. The lyrics aren't THAT special, but still good. This doesn't sound that much like Coldplay. This is GREAT.
AVERAGE-9/10 *****
THis is an awesome look into Coldplay's early years (1999). And ya know, it's worth the money. Pick it up used...or if you're a die-hard fan, get it new...anyway, you'll be happy you did. As I said, this is a good 3rd album to get.

Fantastic find at a great price October 1, 2000 18 out of 21 found this review helpful
My oh my, what a find. This fantastic single heralds a new band into the wonderful world of british music. A great find. The price I paid is way too much when I look at how much this one costs. Regrets. In any case, that's in that past, what can you look forward to with this cd? Great music is a start. The lead singer has a fantastic voice; he sounds a bit like Jeff Buckley, but he has a Nick Drake feel to him, at least I think so. The band perform marvelously, the music, it just grabs you and sticks in your mind for days on end. Listen to it and tell me you don't hum track 3 over and over at night. What else? Well, when Coldplay does hit it big here in North America, which will be soon, trust me, won't it be nice to show all your friends this massively rare CD? Listen, enjoy, it is worth your time and money.
A wonderful treat for Coldplay fans...... February 29, 2004 17 out of 18 found this review helpful
.....who are waiting for their 3rd album. I stumbled across this last night at the store, and it has Coldplay's early work. The first track, 'Brothers and Sisters,' is wonderful, and so is 'Only Superstition,' but I loved 'Easy to Please.' It's a dreamy Parachutes-like song. The piano is such a beautiful addition to the song. It makes you leave whatever troubles you and go into Coldplay's world, led by Chris' soft trance-like voice. The song, and the other two songs, are gems. A must for any true Coldplay fan.
Beautiful early coldplay sound December 28, 2004 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I totally love this cd, I highly recomend it as a third coldplay album with parachutes and a rush of blood to the head. It only has three songs, but belive me that every song can easily be compared with coldplay's best songs. I totally love the second track "easy to pleace", wonderful lyrics and a parachutes sound that makes you fly to another place, the soft guitar sound and Martin's voice at it's best (even better than in the last album). So if you like Parachutes and whant to hear three of the best coldplay songs buy this.
