Waldemar Sorychta back with another great band... November 15, 2007 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
As some metal fans may know, Waldemar Sorychta is the guitarist from Grip Inc. & also is a big producer for such bands as Flowing Tears, Lacuna Coil (female fronted, melodic bands) & Moonspell. Well now he's back in his own female fronted, melodic band Eyes of Eden w/ "Faith" which does have a sound not unlike Flowing Tears or Lacuna Coil but it also makes me think of Nightwish a little too. (If you are fans of those bands then this CD should be no exception to you.) Of everything on this CD, Franziska Huth's vocal performance really stands out the most...she's very good & the orchestration sounds excellent! Eyes of Eden definitely have the talent to last a long time if they continue to craft quality music like this debut.
Excellent symphonic metal February 13, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I was both bummed and delighted to discover that this was a debut album -- bummed because I would have loved to be able to get more of Eyes of Eden's music, delighted because it means they should, hopefully, have a long career ahead.
This is a solid album. There really isn't a bad song on it, and a couple of outstanding ones (my favorites are "Not Human Kind" and "When Gods Fall"). It doesn't break new ground in the genre, but it's a very accessible introduction for newbies, and fans of symphonic metal should find a lot to like here. I look forward to seeing what else they produce in the future.
Eyes Of Eden - Faith March 25, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
The lead singer (Franziska Huth) is so good I would almost compare her ability to Liv Kristine Krull or Tarja Turunen. Since this is her first album she is certainly destined to become a shining star in the gothic metal world. The rest of the band members I'm sure are very competent as well (the bass player is even filling in as a temporary member of Leaves' Eyes). There is some room for improvement in the area of song writing, but every song on the album is excellent.
Eyes of Eden is Absolute Top-Notch Symphonic Metal July 5, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
"Faith" is the debut album of the symphonic/gothic metal band Eyes of Eden, but it doesn't feel like a first album. It instead feels like the third or fourth album of a maturing and successful band. Perhaps because of the involvement of Waldemar Sorychta (who helped produce Lacuna Coil albums, among others), "Faith" has a rich and polished sound that flows smoothly from track to track and never fails to disappoint.
Overall, the music is dark and melodic, with significant symphonic elements mixed together with excellent guitar work. And the vocals of lead singer Franziska Huth are simply gorgeous.
The three strongest tracks are probably "Winter Night", "Sleeping Minds", and "From Heaven Sent", but *all* of them are good. This is one of those discs that you can toss in the CD player and let it play over and over and over again. None of the tracks disappoint.
"Faith" is perhaps the finest symphonic/gothic metal album to be released since Within Temptation's "The Heart of Everything". *Highly* recommended for the fan of female-fronted rock.
A great first album October 7, 2008 In looking for other "symphonic metal" bands (my love for this genre spawned from Nightwish), I came across the german band Eyes of Eden. I was happy that I did! "Faith" is the first of this beautifully-voiced female-fronted band and is comparable to Lacuna Coil's more recent albums (such as Comilias), though not as "goth" (for a lack of better words). The "symphonic" part comes from the use of synthesized keyboards (there is no orchestra, from what I can recall, as is used with Nightwish's most recent albums or Epica).
"Faith" is a great first album and I would recommend it to any fans of Lacuna Coil, Within Temptation, or the like.
