Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The Cavalera Conspiracy is about a sense of being unleashed, says vocalist/guitarist Max Cavalera. You bottle a monster for 10 years and then let it out. It s explosive, and we waited a long time for this beast to be set free.
It s true. The wait is over. And the time is now. Many said it would never happen, that Max and Iggor Cavalera, the Brazilian brothers and visionaries that formed the groundbreaking metal band Sepultura in 1983 would reunite to make electrifying music together again. Despite having spent 12 years apart, the inescapable fact remains: Max and Iggor share blood and are musical soulmates. Their time away from each other fostered musical growth leading to the newly inspired metallic magic. Hence, the Cavalera Conspiracy was born. While the Cavalera Conspiracy and their Roadrunner Records debut Inflikted may seem like the closest we ll get to a Sepultura reunion, make no mistake. The Cavalera Conspiracy is its own maniacal, untamable beast with its own set of rules.

4 out of 5 stars A solid release from the boys from Brasil!   March 27, 2008

'Inflikted'is part punk, part thrash, part groove album with a very raw (yet polished) production thanks in part to ex-Soulflier Logan Mader behind the board. Unfortunatly 'Inflikted' comes off more like Soulfly instead of Sepultura. With most of the tracks written by Max and to some degree Joe from Gorjira this album just sounds like the next incarnation of Soulfly. Sure there are some thrashy elements and great solos(way to g o Mark) but between these spots the album drags and begins to sound the same as we've heard from Max for the past several years....yawn. Rex Brown even makes an appearance on one track as well as Ritchie Cavalera on another. Iggor's drumming is very solid as it is simplistic. You can feel the vibe from the brothers Cavalera as it is evident on such tracks as 'Sanctuary', 'Dark Ark','Hex'and the punked out title track 'Inflikted' all of which are solid. But the one thing that continues to hold Max back is his very limited vocabulary. He has the same vocal delivery as Soulfly's S/T. So you are kind of hearing the same thing over and over. His same lyrics just keep getting regurgitated over and over again....this fact is undenyable. And Max can't create an album without counting off in at least one song....1..2..3..4.
sure I support them and I think it's great that the founders of Brasil's greatest export are reunited but to think that this is a return to form for them is a stretch.

5 out of 5 stars A captive monster has been unleashed   March 25, 2008

Roadrunner Records has added more metal to their catalog and has brought forth the debut of a reunion of the Cavalera brothers, Max and Igor. Over a decade has passed since the two have shared a stage or made music together. This project is not only special because of the musical connections these Brazilian brothers share, but also because the wait for their reunion is over. Whether or not this project becomes permanent is unknown, for Max has his main band Soulfly and Igor has his electronic music project Mixhell.

The two co-founded Sepultura over twenty years ago and have now founded another thrash metal band, Cavalera Conspiracy. Marc Rizzo (Soulfly) and Joe Duplantier (Gojira) fill out the band on guitar and bass, respectively. Without even hearing a single note from these guys, you'd expect something heavy and possibly similar to Sepultura or Soulfly - and you'd be right on all accounts. The band's debut, Inflikted, features an opening song with the same title that sounds like it came off Sepultura's Beneath the Remains. This song could start a riot and could very well be an opening song on tour because of the madness it can stir. On the other hand, the very next song, "Sanctuary," sounds like it came off Soulfly's Prophecy.

With comparisons to the aforementioned bands obvious, Inflikted is also a unique assault of its own. The sound is more than just cohesion of the members' past musical endeavors. Expect several different shades of red on this paint palette. Igor's drums are thunderous and intense, and easily complement the squealing guitars and Max's deep, scratchy vocals. Songs like "Ultra-Violent" and "Must Kill" are trains with a destinations of destruction, bearing chugging guitars and restless screams as their passengers. "Ultra-Violent" also features Rex Brown of Down on bass. While Rex doesn't provide unmistakable bass lines like Les Claypool might, for example, he certainly remains noteworthy.

"We waited a long time for this beast to be set free," says Max.

4 out of 5 stars Not perfect, but better than the last few Soulfly/Sep albums   March 28, 2008

This is the best album to come out of the Soulfly/Sep crews since the first Soulfly and Roorback. Some of Max's guitar parts are a bit repetitive like the most the Soulfly stuff(let the reigns loose on Rizzo),but Iggor's drums are great and the sound is like an updated Nailbomb/Soulfly with a very slight hint of early 90's Sep.Nothing groundbreaking but a solid metal album that any Cavalera fan should get.

5 out of 5 stars Finally!!!!   March 26, 2008

Finally the return of the Cavalera brothers. If you love Sepultura when Max was vocals and if you love Soulfly then this album is for you. From the first track to the last this album is a masterpiece. Basically anything Max Cavalera does is brutal. This album is a must have. If you love metal and don't pick up this cd then you might as well just shoot yourself now.

5 out of 5 stars THE DAY OF METAL DELIVERANCE HAS BEEN INFLIKTED UPON US!   March 27, 2008

DANG! (Or some other except deleted comment that Amazon won't post) I was hoping to be the first to post the first review for this CD. The day that all `Metal' fans have been waiting for has been delivered, finally! Cavalera Conspiracy - INFLiKTED has been released. This is not Soulfy, this is not Nailbomb, not Sepultura w/Derrick Green or any other combination of a projects since Max Cavalera parted from Sepultura. This is the 'Cavalera Conspiracy' and it sounds like a CD that should have been the next Sepultura CD after `Roots!' Sorry, `Against' didn't quite cut it! This is SPEED, THRASH, HEAVY, AGGRESSIVE, and FREAKIN `IN YOUR FACE' Metal! I know all of us Sepultura fans were waiting for a Max / Sepultura reunion, but guess what... INFLiKTED is what you need to cure that! This just goes to show that these two brothers are what made the `real music!'
