Nice Change From the Same Old, Same Old November 20, 2008 I'd never heard of them until Ozzfest a couple of years ago. They played early on one of the smaller stages. In my opinon one of the better acts, as evidenced by their move this year to the Main Stage at Ozzfest 2008. Nice mix of screaming and raw but clean vocals from Maria Brink. Music is melodic not the old droning metal that has become popular. I've seen them twice now and look forward to their next come around.
Great Debut with a Ton of Passion October 29, 2008 Holy Moley! Can Maria Brink scream? In this moment's debut easily puts them at the top of the metalcore scene. They are also amazing live, where I was first introduced to them in 07. This album has a ton of emotion and passion amplified by Maria's shrieks, and great guitar riffs. This is definitely a band to watch.
Beautiful Maria September 28, 2008 This album is nothing short of amazing. It is beyond words how great it is. If you want to buy it, I suggest you don't buy from Amazon, but get it from www.cmdistro.com because it comes in a package with a free shirt and a signed picture from the band.
UberNorv May 25, 2008 There are some really good songs on this album, but they need to mix-up up their style and experiment a bit more with their sound. The songs do tend to sound a bit the same, but I have a feeling In this Moment's next album will be alot better after they have gain more experience and done a great deal of touring.

You know, a female fronted metal band is a hard thing to come across these days. Wait a minute, that's not true! They're everywhere -- from Arch Enemy to Walls Of Jericho to Lacuna Coil -- and, not to sound sexist, but it seems more and more are being signed by the minute as a means to cash in on some sort of a rising trend. So, where does In This Moment fit in and what makes them stand out from the rest? Well, you've got a singer in Maria Brink, who, even if you're ignoring the fact that she has legs longer than a Type O Negative song, can scream with the best of modern metal while still having the chops to sound a little more "classic." Also, it helps that she is backed by a band who can actually play their instruments proficiently, and top-notch production that makes it all sound great. "Beautiful Tragedy," their proper debut, is that rare metal album that will appeal to just about anyone. Do you prefer your metal to be intense and energetic? They can do that. Do you get off on absolutely, insanely sick (yes, I said "sick") melodies? They can do that even better. Whether you listen to whatever's on the radio or if you're "truer than true," you're likely to dig this band. However, the main problem with "Beautiful Tragedy" is that In This Moment seem so hellbent on covering all bases that the music ends up sounding a bit generic. Despite the tremendous talent this band has, at the end of the record, you feel like you've just a heard a more feminine version of Killswitch Engage. Granted, it's still better than ninety percent of the slop you'll hear on Headbanger's Ball, but you can't help but feel like there is a better album in them. "Beautiful Tragedy" does it's best to be an average metal record for the average listener, and in doing so, it's just an average record. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, and assume the next record will have it's own voice and exand upon what has already been established.
