First In Line At The Industrial Buffet May 23, 2001 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
If you are totally new to the industrial scene, this is just as good of a place to start as any. You've got some industrial pioneers here, as well as a few up and comers and some industrial bands that show some potential. A lot of this is previously unreleased remixes or just plain unreleased. The hot spots include the songs by Electric Hellfire Club's Incubus (remixed by Leaether Strip's Claus Larsen). Pygmy Children's remix of Intensify is a good track as well as Kill Switch... Klick's Fascist Smash. Penal Colony and Test Dept also have standout tracks. Tracks I was disappointed in were the Skinny Puppy track. I was expecting some hard hitting unreleased track, but it's mostly nine minutes of atmospheric sounds. Leaether Strip's No Rest For The Wicked hasn't changed much from the original released version. Front Line Assembly's Epidemic appears as a b-side on their Circuitry single. The Swamp Terrorist's Dive Right Jab remix has been released on a myriad of compilations, nothing out of the ordinary. But the granddaddy of industrial, Genesis P. Orridge is here with the band that started it all, Throbbing Gristle. Another one of the founding father's of industrial is here in the form of Einsturzende Neubauten. You've got a virtual who's who of industrial, and if you've never heard of these bands before or are just getting into industrial, this CD is worth every penny!
A two disk offering of hard hitting industrial music May 17, 1998 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
With two discs and most of it previously unreleased, this alum offers an inclusive view of modern industrial music. I recommend this for anyone interested in getting into the industrial scene, but unsure of what is right for them. A few of the tracks should have been left as unreleased, but for the most part, this is an excelent album. But it in the changer and leave it there.
A decent offering of good, unreleased industrial. December 18, 1998 I'm glad I got this set. A good portion of the first disc is previously unreleased, and the entire second disc is unreleased material. There are a few songs that I just don't listen to, either because I just don't care for the band, or for the song itself, but the stuff that I do like makes it worthwhile. Starting it off is the Leather Strip remix of "Incubus" by the Electric Hellfire Club, and if you thought that the original sounded good, then this version is downright evil. Claus Larsen applies his own unique sound to it, turning it into what could be the theme song for evil. Another song that makes it worthwhile are "What's Fair" by Razed in Black. This mix of this song probably ranks as one of my all-time favorite songs, and it got a friend of mine totally hooked on them. Others include "Intensify," "No Rest For The Wicked," "Vortex," and "Panorama." Buy the disc, listen to it a few times, and pick out what you like. I think you'll find that there's quite a bit of likeable stuff here. 4 out of 5.
