Product Description The second record from Toronto's hardcore wunderkinds is a dense, orchestral effort containing an expansive epic about the mysteries of birth, death, and the origins of life. Merging elements of hardcore songwriting with up to 70 tracks of guitars, organs, winds, and vocals, the songs are iconoclastic and startling, with Pink Eyes' growling vocals front and center. Though Fucked Up remain punks at heart, if quixotically diverse ones, they have created a great, weird, heavy record that stubbornly sticks in your brain and your heart. HQ 180 vinyl in gatefold sleeve with MP3 coupon.
Album Description Fucked Up have named their next album as 'The Chemistry Of Common Life', which will be released on October 6th (UK) / 7th (in the U.S.) via Matador. It also seems the Toronto sextet have a choc-a-bloc release schedule in the coming months too - firstly this month (July 21st) the group will deliver their 'Year Of The Pig' EP, before a 7" single of 'No Epiphany' is released in the Autumn / Fall ahead of the album.

My Bloody Minor Threat October 31, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Did Kevin Shields produce this masterpiece? Everytime I play this cd, I hear something different every second of every song. This is a carefully crafted and recorded cd in both musical direction and lyrical presentation. Layered guitars and rants about man and his relationship to god, or man's un-epiphanic moments in every day life are vehemently screamed by "Pink Eyes" in a majority of the songs. They have 2 cool mood emoting instrumental pieces which bridge the philosophical themes of the cd. my fave of the year so far!
It's fun to be dangerous October 28, 2008 A breath of fresh air to my collection. The sound is raw, but layered. Not your typical hardcore album. OK, so maybe I haven't kept up with the scene and my tastes may have changed over the years, but I click with this. Feels like an album, not a collection of songs. Wish I knew what they were singing about but I'll search that out later. Next great breakout band? That will really f*** them up.
