foul vocals April 6, 2007 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Before all, I want to state that I am big fan early 80's post-punk and gothic sound. I hardly missed a few good bands form this era. There were some particular bands that I know the name but never heard their sound etc. I remember my brother having skeletal family home tapes so the name of the band was scratched in my mind since the childhood. Maybe I always refered to it as a quality band because of the name and also maybe because the relevant tape was surrounded by some very good bands such as miracle legion, new model army, teardrop explodes etc...
So this is how I bought that compilation from skeletal family. To me, the sound of the band is as good as a fairly good gothic band of that time period and the song structures are well accomplished and composed. However, I really couldn't amke a point with the lead singer's vocals and lyrics. She is just trying too hard to accord with the music but she has no understanding or peception of this as a concept whatsoever...Her attempts to imitate a good gothic singer with deep volcals, screams and strange sounds just sounds to me very immature and fake to say the least. I don't know why the hell this band hired her as a singer, maybe just to be a little different from the other similar bands, but her vocals just degenerate the music. I really had some hard time to terminate the listening until the end of the album but I don't know if I will just let it inside my collection or sell it yet, but I wouldn't recommend this CD to anyone at all.
Essential and classic album for lovers of goth/postpunk June 16, 2008 Great for fans of Sex Gang Children, Danse Society, early Christian Death, Theatre of hate, Birthday Party etc... If you like these bands you will not regret purchasing this album and will hold it precious. Fantastic example of the transition from punk to goth.
Great September 8, 2008 This is a great CD. I wish I could find their other CD's. Buy it!
