this is not supposed to be industrial August 11, 1999 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
this is one of the best albums i've ever heard. not for industrial music fans. Download's "III" will please FSOL, Orbital and Richard D. James fans.
It was a good change July 10, 1999 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
III is definitely a big change from the other D-LOAD albumns. Not as EVIL or noisy as the others but definitely unique and melodic in comparison. It's a great album and it lives up to the awesome download experience. DOWNLOAD is the best electronic "music" group that I've heard.
excellent electronica February 24, 2004 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is excellent "hard" electronica. The first few tracks are ok but from track 6 on, its pure bliss...You'll want more, so why not head right now to subconsciousstudios.com and order: III Steps Forward - this is another, somewhat softer electronica masterpiece - guaranteed to send shivers up and down your spine. But be patient, it's a limited release - trust me, it's worth the 4 or more weeks wait. Also worthy of consideration is Downoad's Inception album - only available at subconsciousstudios.com Thank you cEvin Key, Phil Western and the subc crew - you are all wonderfully creative artists. ps: look out for the new Skinny Puppy album, probably out in April, 2004... can't wait...
Another mind-bending offering from Download. July 6, 2004 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Download does it again with another brilliant album, if you are new to Download this is a good album to start with.. Throughout the album there are a large amount of samples and odd sounds, all songs sound different yet flow together with the next one, as the album progresses it goes from abrasive beat-driven songs to more soothing sounds, sometimes incorporating a cello, but then, out of thin air a huge barage of sounds comes out and suprises you.. Most of the songs on this album are of the soundscape variety and have no vocals, there are a large amount (or at least there apears to be a large amount) of samples ranging from horses (Toooly Hooof) to what sounds like exotic birds.. (Cunning.) III is an album that can question the very fabric of reality and not say a single word, it's sheer brilliance lives within it's beauty, the 30 second clips above cannot possibly give the album justice, in order to fully understand it you must hear the whole album in it's entirety.. If you are thinking about buying this album I would strongly suggest doing so, it is just an excellent album.. 5 out of 5 stars easily!
beautiful arrangement of sound! April 27, 2000 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The beauty of this piece will put you in a trance. I first heard of download by some friends who really dug the deep, dark, industrial sound. I like industrial music because of the fact that the artists put so much into their down-to-earth masterpieces, I'm just not crazy about the agitated darkness associated with it. This cd fits my desire. In many places, the music expresses the awesome beauty of the night in a very organic form. So many sounds play with your imagination and give you a excellent display of the music. Anybody looking for a clearer, artistic edge to electronic music-this cd will certainly satisfy!
