Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Excellent Modern Prog   October 18, 2008
I stumbled across this one by pure accident while searching for somthing entirely different. I'm glad I did. While Kinfisher Sky's "Hallway of Dreams" falls into the progressive rock category, it's not the ulra-complex uber prog from the days of yore. Kingfisher Sky carries on the prog feel with beautiful melody and harmony. Hallway of Dreams combines hard-hitting with mellow, adds a generous portion of emotion to create their own brand of prog that should appeal to fans of Porcupine Tree, Spock's Beard, some of the more recent Katatonia releases, Pink Floyd, and Riverside just to name a few. The lead vocals are provided by Judith Rijnveld, who does a wonderful job of providing both power and emotion in proper proportions. Backed by a solid rhythm section, crunchy giutars, and some mellow piano/synth work, the vocals really set the mood for any particular track. The porduction is quite good as well. Like the rest of the album, it seems to be just right...not over-produced as some modern progger's feel the need to do. The whole album has a great flow too it that makes it really easy to get into and just sit and listen to the music. Pick it up if you're in the mood for somthing thats a bit different. Recommended listening.
