| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description Hidden behind flowing rusty hair and Shakespearean beard is Benji Hughes, a complex, and often funny, dreamer with a harmonious voice. The singer songwriter from North Carolina subtly infuses his music with flavors and colors, evoking the numerous feelings that love brings. From happiness to misery, Benji describes relationships with friends, women and life in general.
A highly original wordsmith, Benji can tap into the highs of love, find humor there, but also embrace the lows with melodic pieces that stir the soul. From the uplifting tracks So Well and All You Got To Do Is Fall In Love to the darker Even If and You Stood Me Up his lyrics tell a well crafted story regardless of the underlying mood.
A Love Extreme was recorded in Silverlake, CA in collaboration with Keefus Ciancia, a top LA session musician and producer who regularly works with the likes of T-Bone Burnett, Cassandra Wilson and Everlast. Also integral to the album was multi-instrumentalist Gus Seyffert (Inara George, Sia). Benji & Gus recorded several of the tracks including Waiting For An Invitation and All You ve Got To Do Is Fall In Love in Gus living room with the bulk of the album being recorded at Keefus Silverlake studio.

Album of the Year? July 22, 2008 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is a fantastic album worth the price for a double disc. Its a debut artists but watch out for this one cause it could climb the charts. it sounds a lot like Beck with hints of Beatles, Eels, Notwist and even the Kinks. Check out "Tight Tee Shirt" "So Well" and "Vibe So Hot" and you'll get an idea of what I am talking about. There are a lot of slower building songs too. I love this record and would reccomend it to anyone.
He Looks Like He Should Be In ZZ Top but Sounds Like He Should Be in the Magnetic Fields October 9, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I don't normally add a review when there is already four reviews but when I was trying to decide whether or not to but this album those four reviews didn't really help. Every review so far either claims it's album of the year or a horrible mess. Rolling Stone magazine said it was an album "To Buy Now." I'm not a slave to Rolling Stone magazine but sometimes they get it right (like they did with Nada Surf's Let Go). So I was set on a task of researching this album and I found it hard to find the truth mixed in these reviews. The truth is it's a good album. It's a strong first outting which is hard to do with a double album. The most comprable artist I can relate Benji Hughes to is the Magnetic Fields. It's somewhat of a stretch but he also reiminds me of Sea Change era Beck with some electronic beats and a little pep. If those comparesons sound good to you, check out this album. It's not album of the year but it's a well crafted strong album.
MONOTONOUS August 23, 2008 2 out of 14 found this review helpful
THIS ALBUM IS THE VERY DEFINITION OF MONOTONOUS . YOU KNOW ALL THOSE LITTLE TUNES THAT GET STUCK IN YOUR HEAD AND GO ROUND AND ROUND UNTIL YOU MUST HEAR SOMETHING ELSE OR GO NUTS ? HERE'S A WHOLE COLLECTION ! YOU WOULD THINK THAT A PERSON WHO COULD CREATE MUSIC AND LYRICS WOULD CREATE A FEW MORE AND MAKE GOOD MUSIC.
IF YOU ARE THIRTEEN OR BRAIN DAMAGED THIS YOUR STUFF.

A little bit of everything October 18, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This album was highly recommended by the Rolling Stone magazine. It's a very eclectic album with a little bit of everything so depending on your taste there will always be some good and some bad. But overall this is an interesting album.
