| Editorial Reviews:
Album Description In Sydney, Australia, Lenka was a teen actress who trained with Cate Blanchett, thereafter landing leading roles on stage, television and indie films. A self-described 'punk-ass art school student' and vocalist/keyboardist for acclaimed indie Electronic/ambient outfit Decoder Ring. She has flung herself into two new worlds simultaneously: she's moved to California and become a solo artist. Whether channelling our long-repressed terrors ('Trouble') or long-lost innocence ('We Will Not Grow Old'), her music evokes primal emotions, unblemished by pretense or cynicism and unashamed of cracking a smile occasionally. Lenka's fresh sensibility extends to every element of her music, as the whimsical, paper art, stoimated videos she creates.'It's a mood-enhancer,' she says of her record, 'I don't like it when people are depressed. I want to cheer them up.'

A Perfect Album September 30, 2008 6 out of 9 found this review helpful
"I don't like it when people are depressed. I want to cheer them up," Lenka once said.
And she has succeeded.
"Lenka" is a most wonderful album full of cheery songs, fun beats, deep and easy to relate to lyrics and emotion. There is not one song worth skipping over. One can easily listen to "Lenka" straight through without losing interest.
Here's a quick personal rating of each song:
1) "The Show"- 10/10 2) "Don't Bring Me Down"-10/10 3) "Skipalong"- 9.5/10 4) "Don't Let Me Fall"- 10/10 5) "Anything I'm Not"- 9/10 6) "Knock Knock-" 10/10 7) "Dangerous and Sweet"- 10/10 8) "Trouble Is A Friend"- 10/10 9) "Live Like You're Dying"- 9/10 10) "Like A Song"- 9/10 11) "We Will Not Grow Old"- 10/10
Those ratings may seem ridiculous, but I don't think so. When I was first listening to this album, my only thoughts were, "It has been so long since I have heard a more perfect album."
On top of it being a fantastic album, Lenka is also a key songwriter on every one of these songs! Now that is something to respect.
All in all, "Lenka" is full of cheer and spunk. Almost anyone can find at least one song to completely relate to.
Hypnotizing voice & catchy, breezy songs September 26, 2008 4 out of 7 found this review helpful
There is nothing quite like a beautiful girl with a beautiful voice singing beautiful songs. These songs will make you feel good and brighten your day.
Lenka's voice kind of reminds me a little bit of Suzanne Vega and Edie Brickell.
The next new hit female artist October 7, 2008 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
I downloaded her song "The Show" free on iTunes in September and liked it a lot. After further investigation, I realized why I like her music - smooth voice and catchy tunes that are happy/quirky/interesting, while not being rough/profane. I tend to think Lenka is a combination of Regina Spektor and Imogen Heap, two singers I really like. Her voice may also be compared to Kate Havnevik as well.
One of my favorites from this album is "Trouble is a Friend."
I can also vouch that Lenka is really genuine, having responded personally to my messages on sites like MySpace, thanking me for putting her song on my profile. She was on Conan O'Brien in late September as well, so please keep an eye out for her and "The Show."
Buy the album! You won't regret it! The CD artwork is really pretty.
Dangerous And Sweet October 17, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I first heard of Lenka a while back when I discovered her single "The Show," (at the time it was a free download on iTunes). The song is really cute, fun/bubbly and had an uplifting feeling to it. After listening to "The Show," I was definitely curious to learn more about her full album. I ran across it at Target and listened to the CD all the way through without skipping any songs. Each song was as good as the one before it. In my opinion, there is not one bad song on this album. After several listens to the CD (the disc is still in the car stereo) this became one of my favorite albums EVER. Let's just say that if I could nominate this CD for album of the year, I would do it in a heartbeat. If you have heard her first single, "The Show," and like it, I am confident you will enjoy the rest of the album. Lenka also had a hand in writing or co-writing all of the songs on the CD which is something I really admire in an artist these days. I hope that more and more people will discover artists like Lenka, as they create material that should not be overlooked. The voice, the writing, and the music is all so fun and refreshing. Lenka is definitely a unique artist and I really hope to hear more from her in the future. So ultimately... it goes without saying that this is definitely something worth checking out. I'm glad I did.

She is the most unique artist that I have heard. I strongly recommend buying the entire album, as every song is meaningful and a pleasure to listen to. She truly does make people happy.
