4 out of 5 stars Great as an EP but not an LP   January 21, 2006

This is Hocico's sixth official release following Sangre Hirviente. While this is a great cd, it should only be regarded as more of an EP than a full length album.

One unfortunate side effect is that 2 of the 8 songs are remixes of the song Spit As An Offense which was originally on Sangre Hirviente. Amazon's track listing doesn't mention that the first version of Spit As An Offense is the Escupitajo Mix.

So, if you disregard the 2 remixes of Spit, you are left with 6 songs. Then we have to consider that 3 of these songs are instrumentals (Lineas de Ironia, Prediccion and Episodio) which wouldn't be a bad thing except the fact that the first 2 are roughly a minute and a half each. I don't really consider that to be much of a "song", more like inbetween filler. So, if we disregard the 2 one minute and a half instrumentals, then we are left with 4 songs including the third instrumental.

Of these four songs, the 3 with vocals ( Starving Children, Poltergeist and Nothing Back) are really great songs. For me, the song that stands out above the others is Poltergeist, but the others are almost equally as good. If you are fortunate to get/have the rare limited box set, then you also get the excellent song A Broken Glass which is only found on the limited cd along with a neato box to hold the cd and an extra booklet of pictures.

While I can't really justify the price that this lists for, if you can get it for a reasonable price, it is a well worth addition to any Hocico collection. If you are really sadistic and have money to blow, then have fun trying to aquire the box set :)
