Album Description A remarkable revolution is taking place in Latin music these days, as electronica and remixing meet the more traditional rhythms of Argentinean tango, Afro-Cuban son, Brazilian bossa nova and Colombian cumbia. On Putumayo's new collection, Latin Lounge artists such as Sidestepper, Si*Se, Charanga Cakewalk and others prove that there can be a magical blend of modern musical trends and traditional Latin styles. While Latin Lounge features several internationally known artists, it also highlights discoveries such as Bebe, a singer-songwriter whose recent collaboration with electronica DJ Carl Jean has made her a star in her native Spain. Another rising star is the Spanish band Amparanoia, a leading band in the mestizo (mixed) movement, so-called for its boundary-crossing blend of flamenco, Afro-Cuban music, hip-hop, electronica and other influences. Latin Lounge is the latest in a series of successful Putumayo releases focusing on exciting new directions in down tempo electronica and world music that includes the collections World Lounge, Euro Lounge and Sahara Lounge. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this CD will be donated to Oxfam America in support of their development efforts in South America.

Uno de los Discos Buenos de Putumayo! December 23, 2005 12 out of 14 found this review helpful
I have taken highschool Spanish for 4 years so far, so I think it's a nice treat for me to finally listen to Spanish music and understand most of the music! I believe Putumayo is top-notch when it comes to its compilations on Spanish music. In my opinion this is one of their best. It's fun, sexy, sultry, and refreshing. I highly recommend it.
Draws you in... March 9, 2006 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
Yes,its true. From the first track onward, this album draws you in with its storytelling, spoken word and soothing melodies. At first glance, this wasn't something I would listen to but, alas after my first listen, it was hard for me to listen to anything else for a week!! Putumayo always does it right when they put together a project. Standout tracks are "Reflejo de Luna", "Caminhos de Cuba", and "Carmela". Any Putumayo fan will not be disappointed.
Smooth and Sexie March 13, 2007 6 out of 8 found this review helpful
All the cuts offer a tasty bite of Latin flavor. Latin Jazz and Euro fusion. Great listening music or as a back drop to accent a dinner party. The music is captivating, enchanting, and just a pleasure to listen. This is the kind of music that goes great with a sunset, wine, and a friend.
Perfect for lounging February 26, 2006 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is one of the best Putumayo CDs I own so far. Each song has a particular mood and character to it - from trippy, relaxing, romantic, sexy to dramatic. Love the mix of electronica beats, violins and flamenco guitars. A must have!!

After purchasing many compilations I began to fear that I would never again hear a cd as good as my first (Siddharta Vol. 1) but this cd woke me up. Some songs are better than others. "Siempre Me Quedara" for example is one of the best songs I've heard in months and all are consistantly good except for one song called "Carmela" which sounds like something my grandparents would dance to. When I realised that Putumayo made many discs with many different themes without sticking to 1 theme I assumed it would be commercial and weak, but the disc outdoes most buddha bar or hotel costes compilations! A great Listen, I highly recommend it.
