Editorial Reviews:

Album Description
The original new wave, art/disco diva Grace Jones is back with her first album in 19 years (not including her two unreleased albums in the 90's). Hurricane features an all-star production team led by Ivor Guest, including Brian Eno, Tricky, and Sly & Robbie. Her one-off London Show at the Royal Festival Hall on June 19th for Massive Attack's Meltdown series of concerts saw the excitement for her forthcoming album sky-rocket, as The Times called it a 'sensational return to form', whilst the Telegraph observed that 'all around the gawping, whistling, cheering Festival Hall was the sense that this is how a star should be.' The show has been one of the most talked about of the year. The first single from the album is the haunting and twisted 'Corporate Cannibal'. The track also has a mind-altering new video, directed by Nick Hooker. Wall of Sound. 2008.

5 out of 5 stars Grace In Your Face!   November 18, 2008

This new album by Grace is amazing! She goes away from recording an album for all this time, then comes back with a vengeance--without even seeming to have gone anywhere. This album is the perfect segue from her last albums--it is a contemporary update, and so much better, yet still "full of Grace!" Bounding with "vintage Grace" phrases, musings and meanderings, it is an aural explosion and a sound assault--albeit with a soft, personal side. She hasn't mellowed--only aged into a full-bodied, deep, rich elixir of a singer. Hard to believe she is 60--raring to swing us around this dance floor of life, into the gyrating crowd. Never fear--GRACE is here--like a Hurricane!!!

What can be said about this force of nature ? I just finished listening to this from start to finish and it is brilliant. As the previous reviewer aptly stated - she has picked up flawlessly - who would know she was gone? With all her old buddies Sly, Robbie and Barry and Brian Eno (!) on board - oh even Jean Paul Goode - how could this not be so resoundlingly recorded - timeless, graceful, punctuated with an exclamation and smirk - love you grace. THANK YOU! (Why is this showing up as discontinued already? - Corporate Cannibal maybe?)

I don't understand the distribution for this cd. It has such potential to be huge and it's so hard to get. I found it on a site from England.
That said... this music is just not good, it's serious good. At times she reminds me of a female Nine Inch Nails. I love her older stuff but this music has weight to it and is so well procuced. It's like a rediscovery. Super recomended.

5 out of 5 stars and now, Ladies an Gentlemen, heeere`s Grace!   November 29, 2008

WOW! This album is the perfect comeback for someone whos voice and musical style seem to belong to another decade. She doesn't care who you have to work with nowadays to climb the charts or who should be your producer (as even madonna does!!). She just does what she's always done. This album shows, how important her music in the 80s was. Her style was the birth of what today is called trip hop. And now she's back to prove, that she still is the grand old lady of this style!! As Nina Hagen is the mother of punk, Grace is the mother of trip hop. Just imagine, this party-freak is 60 years old, but listen to the cd and the years are swept away. It's wonderful and I really hope, she's going to conquer also the american market because this gorgeous piece of music should be heard everywhere.

5 out of 5 stars Finally the returh of EXCELLENCE   November 30, 2008

This year has seen the releases of some of my favorite all time divas, old and new. Taylor Dayne, Eva Cassidy, Jennifer Hudson, Linda Eder, Thelma Houston, Janet, Madonnna and Donna "The Empress" Summer. All of them genuine entertainment. Then Hurricane by Grace Jones stopped me dead in my tracks. If you are a true lover of perfection, you only have to experience the perfection known as Grace Jones to be taken to that special place that she has created in this work that will touch that inner most place simply called PLEASURE.
