Amazon.com Leave it to Rhino Records to come up with the best party music for Halloween rave-ups. In contrast to New Wave Halloween, this set of 10 tunes is aimed squarely at the family listening environment. "Monster Mash," sung by Bobby Pickett and the Crypt-Kickers, is a hoot decades after its origin. And Screamin' Jay Hawkins's "I Put a Spell on You" is aptly eerie, if not a tad funny in this setting--considering that "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes" comes after and the Addams Family theme comes before. And lest you think this set of tunes is mired in the depths of Halloween tunes from generations ago, it also has "Ghostbusters"--which reeks of datedness anywhere but here. --Andrew Bartlett

Alot of great trick or treat party tunes September 25, 2002 16 out of 18 found this review helpful
You can't go wrong with this if you are looking for some fun music for Halloween. Whether you're planning a party or just want to listen to this while distributing candy, this is probably the best Halloween music collection around. Now if only RHINO would come out with a Part 2. Great fun here for everyone.

this cd has the cleanest, clearest cut of jumpin" gean simmons hit, haunted house. it's unfortunate that so few people seem to remember this hit. this cd is worth it for only that song. the original Ghost Busters tune is on this cd and is also the clearest I've ever heard. this cd is one you should get !

This is a wonderful CD for the family. My young children love it and we spent lots of time dancing to it. We even listened to it at my child's kindergarten Halloween party. It was a big hit. Unlike many of the Halloween CDs today this one is not frightening. It is fun and upbeat. I highly recommend it.
Fairly Solid Halloween Holiday Music. October 16, 2003 11 out of 13 found this review helpful
I originally discovered this album several years ago while working on the children's radio program I used to dj and produce. I really enjoyed listening to the music, but had to leave the cds behind when I left the show after moving out of the city. Now that I currently am back on the air with an internet radio show, I've been looking around for some good quality Halloween music to play on my new show. There really isn't much out there. A lot of the Halloween cds you buy are compliations of songs rearranged by different artists or studio groups. That's not the case with HALLOWEEN HITS. There are only 10 songs on the album, but they are all sung by the original artists. Some of them are Halloween favorites, such as "Monster Mash" and "Ghostbusters" while others are related to frightening/scary/monster themes and shows, such as the "Addam's Family Theme" and "The Twilight Zone Theme". It would be nice if this cd had a few more tunes on it, but for less than $10, it's basically a bargain. A good cd to play at Halloween.

What a great find! It took years of searching to locate the original Gene Simmons version of "Haunted House". I would have paid this great price for this one song alone! My four children have a wonderful time listening to these "oldies-but definitely goodies". Enjoy!
