It`s not a bad album, it`s just not as good as the likes of LOST PARADISE, the female vox let the album down, other than that not a bad album to buy!
Vey moody, masterful release November 24, 2000 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Paradise Lost are ultimate at creating a dark mood. They are probably the first doom metal band (and the best one by the way) to use symphonic female vocals in their music. They also use violins in the tracks Gothic and Eternal. This is a fantastic work of musical art. The harmonies are really great and really help the dark, edgy, guitar. This is their finest realease. I recommend anyone who enjoys gothic/doom metal and likes music to be moody and feeling inspiring, pick this up. Choice tracks are Gothic, Shattered, Rapture, Eternal(best song on here), and the instrumental Angel Tears. Pick this up, you will not be disappointed.
great! June 13, 2000 If you think of their latest releases, you may not believe that this is the same Band that made "One Second", "Host" or even "Icon". Back then, Paradise Lost didn't play New-Age-Wave music but marked the territory of any Gothic-Metal band of today, Theatre of Tragedy, Tristania and the like. Being the first Death/Doom Album with female vocals, you can easily call this one a milestone of Metal. It has nothing to do with the Style since Icon, but it stands the test of time with "Gothic" and "Eternal" being outstanding killers!
