Product Description Beautiful, sorrowful, symphonic and Oriental this is ChthoniC in a nutshell. Playing Gothic tinged Black Metal from Taiwan for over twelve years, ChthoniC are now making waves the world over, following their successful stint on the 2007 Ozzfest tour. Pandemonium complies 11 classic songs from the 4 album ChthoniC catalogue, 7 of which were specially re-recorded for this compilation. BEWARE!
Album Description Formed in 1995, ChthoniC has recorded four albums. ChthoniC's melodies can be characterized as extreme metal with a central inspiration and folklore coming from the black metal movement. ChthoniC uses the traditional Chinese stringed instrument er-hu, which can be compared to an eastern violin. The music flows with the tempo of ancient mythology, and often, through lyrics, conveys an abbreviated version of a traditional myth or legend.

| Customer Reviews:
More than just a simple compilation August 2, 2008 Very rarely a compilation is worth buying if you already are a fan of a band and own all or most of their releases but Pandemonium is one of those rare cases.
What takes this one apart from all the generic compilations is the fact that more than half of the songs on are re-recordings (except for the songs taken from Seediq Bale) and they all sound so amazing.
If there's one thing that is consistanly bad on each Chthonic releases is the awful sound of the Drums. Everything else sounds pretty good but the drums seem to almost be an after thought. The perfomance is also uninspired in my humble opinion except on Seediq Bale where there are still problems with the drums mixing (The bass drums have no kick to them) but the overall recording quality is way higher.
The only bad thing about this CD is the fact that you'll find yourself wishing that all their songs would sound that great and that they would re-record all their previous albums but this is wishful thinking at its best.
If you own all Chthonic releases buy this anyway. It's like re-discovering the band and get an idea on how they wanted they first three CDs to sound like from the beginning.
