Product Description 2 CD Special Edition. After 8 menacing albums, the kings of black metal return with their most dastardly tale yet. Chronicling the story of the world's first serial killer, French nobleman and soldier of Joan of Arc, Gilles De Rais. Like they had done with the story of Elizabeth Bathory, Cradle of Filth weave a tale of murder, the occult, and sinister deed around their trademark metal sound. Fueled by breakneck speed, crushing guitars, and haunting vocals- the band has delivered their hardest most aggressive and chilling piece yet. This is the 2CD special edition.

Godspeed on The Devil's Thunder October 28, 2008 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Well when i first heard this album, before it came out i was shocked! The intro was kind of Cruelty-esque i guess, but it has to be one of there best intro instrumentals so far...also i like how the music in the instrumental led on into the next song Shat Out Of Hell, i thought it was pretty cool. Oh and Shat out of Hell blew me away, the speed on some of these songs blow older albums away.lol The Death of Love is also an awesome track, reminds me of Nymphetamine, but it actually sounds good. The 13th Caesar has an awesome intro, and leds into an awesome song, it kinda gets stuck in your head. Then Tiffagues, another instrumental which leads into Tragic kingdom..skipping along to Honey and Sulphur, god i swear did they have guest vocals by ICS Vortex from Dimmu Borgir or what? no...it was the choir but thats who it reminded me of on the first listen.lol. Darkness Incarnate is a standout song one of the best tracks on the album, as well as Godspeed which destroys once again like Shat out of hell... Dani's vocals are probably the best he's done yet, they are evil and full of emotion unlike thornography, oh one part on the song Godspeed where he sounds so grim, its amazing! Marthus is an awesome drummer! On the first listen i payed close attention to him, and was blown away because he reminded me of Nick Barker. There are some guitar solos, and also their are some wicked bass parts, almost scary like on Darkness Incarnate. I wouldnt compare this to Midian because it kills it! All in all, Its a good comeback album for Cradle of Filth, i hope they continue this way...
Where the hell were you, Cradle? October 29, 2008 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Can't believe it, no pop ish bullshet here!, this is fast and dark as hell!. Best album since Midiam and in my top 5 best COF records. This is how gooooooddddd this is. If you were turn off by damnation, nymphetamine and thornography, and you love their first 4 records, well brother, you will be happy.
Welcome back and stay like this please!

Yes, Finnally! November 2, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Cradle Of Filth have not released a record this good since their epic 'Cruelty And The Beast'. 'Godspeed On The Devil's Thunder' is a concept album (like Cruelty..was about Elizabeth Bathory), on this album the subjected charachter of study is Gilles De Rais. Gilles, a former right hand man to Joan Of Arc, was a merciless child murderer. Anyways, this is all just in good fun for those of us who get it...musically this album is extremly fast and aggressive. Seriously, it's their second best album. The production is amazing BTW.
Gilles De Rais Would Be Proud! November 7, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Gilles De Rais Would Be Proud! Congratulations Cradle! You have made a full comback from Thornography! This CD is one of their best by far! I would highly recommend it! This CD will remind you why Cradle of Filth is the best band in the world!
