5 out of 5 stars Milestone in Underground Death Metal/Grind   November 24, 2006
This...is pure, sick, totally deranged DeathGrind. This is beyond your Cannibal Corpse and Six Feet Under nonsense. Sure, there isn't much talent...except for drums and vocals. But it does not hinder their ability to warp your mind with sick lyrics, incredible drums, and gutteral spewage. This is a must have if you want extremely heavy music. As one of the vocalists in my band, Devourment is a major influence on me. Don't bother debating whether this is good or not. It is...it is. It will crush your head under the brutality that is Devourment.

3 out of 5 stars 3 stars but i still love this band   September 19, 2006

First off this is not talent. It is not better than Cannibnal Corpse. Cannibal Corpse is a totaly different band. WHat Devourment delivers is 100% grinding slammin brutality. Every song is grind and than slam than grind than slam. AMongst the slammin breakdowns are the gurgled vocals the lyrics that are some of the sickest ever. When I here all this together a smile emerges on my face and i say to myslef I LOVE THIS BAND! I love listening to this band when i just wanna here some straight foward brutal slammin death metal. THey have a few fun to play riffs too if you like making brutal noise with your guitar. Devourment are the fathers of slam death metal. If you want to listen to something that is just straight foward brutal than buy this. THis isn't technical(cept maybe the drums), this isn't progressive, this is not innovative. This is pure brutality. If your looking for well composed death metal look elsewhere. I on the other hand love most all death metal even if its monotonus, repetative, no talent stuff like this. As long as it catches my ear and I can realy grasp what I am hearing. No, musicly it doesnt touch Suffocation, Deicide, DEATH, Obituary, Cannibal Corpse, Origin, Vital Remains, and Nile, the kind of death metal with extreme talent, but it does have a place in my cd binder for when I'm looking for some sick slammin fun.

5 out of 5 stars Sick...   July 28, 2006
For people into guttural secrete, gutrot, artery eruption, mortician, malignancy, and the likes should've already own this album and know this band by now... Devourment's molesting the decapitated is a masterpiece. If you think cannibal corpse is truly extreme ? You haven't heard devourment yet.

4 out of 5 stars You wont believe what you are hearing - WOW   July 19, 2006

This is quite possibly the heaviest album ever released. There are tons of blasts, and NYDM style breakdowns here. Guitars are pretty standard death metal, and the ultra-low vocals are probably one of the sickest you'll ever hear.

Highly recommended to fans of death metal.

This blows any newer Cannibal Corpse away (although thats not really hard to do). You have to hear this band, because words can not express what they sound like.

2 out of 5 stars BORING DEATH METAL   April 21, 2006

This is boring as stuff, my friends. Yes, it is very brutal death metal, however it has monotonous vocals and monotonous riffs.
Few good grooves, but overall picture is quite boring and not very inspiring.
Just for huge fans of death/gore metal, who will grab anything brutal, other listeners may skip Devourment.
