suprising..very good June 1, 2008 17 out of 18 found this review helpful
While some folks are probably looking at this soundtrack as just another attempt to cash in on the accompanying movie. It's obvious that this cd was put together for any and all that enjoy a cd that is solid from start to end.
I had already heard about the Fergie track "Labels or Love" which is good and the Jennifer Hudson track "All Dressed Up in Love" (which she rocks by the way). But their are several other tracks that make this soundtrack worth the price of admission. Tracks like "The Look of Love" by Nina Simone, "New York Girls" by Morringwood, "Amazing" by Jem and "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart" by Al Green Feat. Joss Stone.
I'm really glad that i decided to go and give this one a shot even though i haven't seen the movie or anything like that. It's an excellent addition to any person's musical collection.
Also of note are two other very noteworthy tracks in "Kissing" by Bliss and (my fav off the album) "All This Beauty" by The Weepies. I can't even describe how much i enjoy that track alone but all the others together with it make for a soundtrack that should be sought after before or after checking out the movie.

I would definitely recommend this cd to all SEX AND THE CITY fans, and anyone else who likes good music. It is full of some great oldies and even some newer stuff. The CD includes a great mix of pop, techno, classic rock, and fun theme music all set to a seductive, city vibes. My personal favorite is Al Greens How can you mend a broken heart. This cd made me even more anxious for the movie which is coming out in a few days.
Everyone needs a copy of this! May 28, 2008 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
I got the chance to see this movie last night & it is AWESOME!
I want to also say that the music in the movie is incredible! I highly recommend the soundtrack - It features Fergie's new song "Labels or Love" - it also has the Sex in the City theme song as well as a beautiful version of "Auld Lang Syne"... Once you see the movie you will want the soundtrack so you can relive the moments through song... :) This is an excellent compilation of songs played in the movie, you will not want to be without it!

This CD is not worth it. The editing is awful, one of the songs sounds like an LP and another song ends without a fade out. And then the theme song for the movie is only 50 seconds long. Don't buy it!
Great fun June 7, 2008 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Sex and the City, for six seasons, delivered laugh and love from its famous quartet: Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda. Now, with the new sensational movie out, we have a chance to "relive" the old days with them, musically, with the compliation soundtrack from the movie.
Sometimes, movie soundtracks are quite disappointing, not truly reflecting the movie, or having songs that don't even appear in the movie ... the "inspired by" songs. Fortunately, many of the songs on the soundtrack are featured prominently in this movie, and bring smiles to your face.
The opening credits number, a rappy hip song by Fergie called "Labels or Love" is very fun and very true to the series. Jennifer Hudson belts out quite a tune called "All Dressed in Love", using her pipes quite well. Other favorites on the disk are Morningwood's tribute to the fairer sex "New York Girls", Jem's harmonic convergence in "It's Amazing", and the dear India.Arie's snog "The Heart of the Matter".
Another favorite is the mournful, quite rendition of "Auld Lang Syne", with Mairi Campbell and Dave Francis, which spins out over a New Year's Eve celebration in the movie: it's very beautfiul.
Overall, I highly recommend this soundtrack. It'll make a PERFECT companion to your summer beach music, and a great CD to pop in the player when you are getting ready for a night with your friends! Purchase it now!
