prayerfully relaxing, peacefully inspiring, enCHANTing! October 15, 1999 29 out of 30 found this review helpful
This CD is a thoroughly enjoyable experience of prayer. It is peaceful music to relax by and is a wonderful background to prayer. Not understanding the words in no way diminishes it's enjoyability.
A great collection July 25, 2001 14 out of 28 found this review helpful
This collection is not merely a mixture of medieval chants. The music itself instills both sorrow and wonder. The Gregorian chants create a profound understanding of society from the time of the unfortunate demise of Rome to the transition into Enlightened society. The Latin lyrics contain so much more spirituality than "contemporary" Christian music (which is usually Protestant). If you do not understand the lyrics, I suggest studying the basic rules of Latin and becoming cognizant of the connection between the roots of Latin in English. If that does not solve the problem, it is not too difficult to find the lyrics online or in a store. (note: if you are going to try to 'chant' along, first really learn correct pronounciation and tone inflections)
Same Quation As Before April 23, 2003 11 out of 17 found this review helpful
The music is flawless. Haunting, spiritual, engrossing, and above all gorgeous. This disc is nothing short of amazing. Yet I gotta ask. Why is it that a recording of BENEDICTINE monks has a cover photo of men in FRANCISCAN robes?

Beautiful August 28, 2005 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
Beautiful. Just like the first Chant. This is my "mellow out", puts me to sleep music. I didn't care for the applause at the end, but it's still a beautiful CD.
