Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com
It's no mean feat being the world's foremost crossover artist--a task that risks alienating two disparate audiences and everyone in between--but somebody had to do it, and Andrea Bocelli again walks that artistic tightrope with impressive deftness. The title may imply a casual intimacy (indeed, the singer admits to taking a more "hands-on" approach to the album's conception and production), but it's a collection that nonetheless continues to expand on the Italian tenor's ambitious internationalism. His collaboration "Sin Tu Amor" immerses his voice in the Gipsy Kings' own rich Iberian folk-pop fusion with compelling results, while "Where Love Goes" (a musical focal point of the film Lazarus Child), his English language duet with 11-year-old prodigy Holly Stell, achieves an almost liturgical grace. "Tu Ci Sei" (You Are There) continues in the romantic vein of his familiar theme "Con Te Partiro" (Time to Say Goodbye), while the single "Dell' Amore Non Si Sa" (With Love You Never Know) features Bocelli in a signature dramatic tour de force collaboration with arranger Mauro Malavasi, the accomplished producer of the singer's Romanza and Sogno albums. Bocelli's shrewd taste and vocal prowess here not only again redeem an oft-maligned genre, but elevate it considerably in the bargain. --Jerry McCulley

5 out of 5 stars Another Beautiful CD by Andrea!!!!!   November 10, 2004

WOW Andrea is truly a Beautiful CD. This is Andrea's 6th "pop" release (4th In the USA) and it is really his most "pop" album to date. The others are more "POPRA" a combination of tenor singing and POP, while this CD, Andrea, is pop through and through (with the exception of In canto, which is classical). It really shows Bocelli's versility to not only be a wonderful tennor but aslo a wonderful pop singer. Its one beautiful song after another.
hear is a song by song look at the CD,
1) Dell'Amore Non Si Sa Love it very melodrma-ish, it will be a HIT for sure.

2) L'Attesa. A very pretty song and very radio friendly

3) Un Nuovo Giorno. Has HIT written all over it, nice pop style singing.

4) Tu Ci Sei. Very Good song; ladies this is like Bo singing in your ear while your dancing with him :) Just picture that when you listen to this song. Great vocal control to sing so high and soft at the same time.

5) Sin Tu Amor. This is done in spanish, I LOVE IT, love the blend of vocals with Reyes (Of the Gypsy Kings) and the Guitar work. BIG BIG hit in latin areas for sure.

6) Liberta. very good but no con te partio, still very pretty.

7) Per Noi. very good, I like the way it goes up and down a scale. Its a Very romantic song.

8) Le Parole Che Non Ti Ho Detto. I LOVE it; its my favorite on the CD. One of his best chores' in music History, for sure, a beautiful song.

9) Sempre O Mai. Love it, very popish, very radio friendly, very familiar.

10) In Canto. A very Pretty song, very romanza-ish.

11) Quante Volte Ti Ho Cercato. Great song, it goes up and down a scale as well, my second fav on the CD.

12) When A Child Is Born, a good song also in english. It is in a westen sytle but ends with a heck of a good tennor note.

13) Go Where Loves Goes. In english, a beautiful duet with a yong new comer named Holly Stell, it will be huge.

Overall Andrea is a beautiful CD, you can put it on, sit back and get lost in the hills of Tuscany. This is a must have essential Bocelli CD.

2 out of 5 stars Not so worthy of his name.   November 10, 2004

I think I'm probably the only religious Andrea Bocelli fan that hasn't enjoyed this album. As anxious as I was to get my hands on it, I was greatly disturbed by what I heard.

For one, if you are looking for the stylings of his previous albums, then this most certainly isn't a recording for you. This is way more pop then I would have liked, and I don't feel Andrea sang with his full potential.

Another thing that didn't sit well with me, is usually after an intial run through I find several songs I want to repeat over and over again. Again, this wasn't the case with this album. There were only two that I can name off the top of my head and they are:

5. Sin Tu Amor
6. Liberta

And I've noticed that he chose to release the only tracks on this album that are representations of his past work. Now if that isn't false advertising I don't know what is.

I'm sorry Andrea but this album was in no way, shape, or form worthy of your name. Give me some songs that are song from your heart and I will actually pay money for them.

5 out of 5 stars Andrea Bocelli's Andrea is the most awesome album from him yet!   January 25, 2006

It's true. This is Andrea's most sophisticated and, I think, most personal album to date. Fans who have been waiting since his Cieli di Toscana will not be disappointed. This is a genuine pop album. Definitely not crossover. I've let many people listen to it who thought that they wouldn't like it because it is an "opera singer," but most of them have thoroughly enjoyed it. It is a true relief from the noisey and meaningless music and lyrics of most pop music today. Definitely a must for any great music lover's collection.

5 out of 5 stars Back in the game again!   October 6, 2005

I became a fan after hearing "Cieli di Toscana." I also liked "Romanza" and "Sogno."

"Sentimento," however, seemed as dry as dust bunnies by comparison. (His promo appearance on AOL didn't help, either - he looked old, unkempt, and ill, but of course that doesn't show up on the CD.)

I was dubious about "Andrea" after being so disappointed with "Sentimento." To my delight, I LOVED the new release. Andrea is back in form as the multi-faceted performer that we enjoy, doing ballads and love songs that gladden the heart. He even uses his gravelly "jailhouse" voice on "Un Nuovo Giorno," which is probably my favorite song on this CD.

If you liked "Cieli di Toscana," I'd be willing to bet that you'll like "Andrea" as much or better!

5 out of 5 stars Just love him   August 20, 2005

I don't know how anyone could give him a bad review. Anything he sings is great. I have a grandchild coming in about a week and am going to frame "A Child is Born." I also love "DELL'AMORE NON SI SA" and "TU CI SEI." With all the rap-crap our kids listen to I wish more people would appreciate what this great man gives to us. I know this grandson of mine will listen often when I have him. If you love great music, buy this!!!
