| Editorial Reviews:
Album Description A major new recording of the legendary Wanamaker organ at Lord & Taylor in Philadelphia. The program consists of major symphonic works transcribed for organ. Features the Wanamaker Grand Court organist Peter Richard Conte in a program recalling the most famous "after-hours" concerts given at Wanamaker's years ago. Peter Conte's CD The Wanamaker Legacy was the best-selling organ CD in America for 2005! This is only the second recording of the fully restored instrument, which is the world's largest functioning organ. 24-page booklet includes extensive notes by the artist, the recording engineer, and others about the organ, the history of organ transcription, and recording this major symphonic organ.

Recorded From the Wind Chest? February 1, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I work in Philadelphia and have heard the Wanamaker organ many times. It is truly a majestic sounding instrument. But the unusually high noise floor in this recording is distracting (except in limited passages where Mr. Conte plays at greater volumes) and, for me, compromises the musical experience.
