5 out of 5 stars Great Follow-up...   November 18, 2000

I see that an earlier reviewer pretty much said everything I would have said on this review... so I'll keep this simple.

It's not Beneath the Skin. But after listening to this a few times I'm glad it's not. Collide hasn't quite reinvented themselves with this release, but have done some revamping to their sound and musical structure.

Some of the intensity is gone. I miss it but I'll live... and I still have Beneath the Skin to listen to when I need that power noise boost. CtG has a much more seductive, emotional, and exotic feel to it (especially in Halo [great sitar] and Razor Sharp [my personal fave on the album]). There are moments here that will melt you to your chair if you're as spiritual with your music as I am.

Altogether, Chasing The Ghost is yet another beautiful, 5-star album from Collide... which leads me to really question why there's still so many millions of people out there that have never heard of this incredible group.

Buy this CD now. Otherwise you're missing out on something truly spectacular.

5 out of 5 stars *Chasing the Ghost*   April 19, 2002

I got this cd without ever hearing a single song of collide. i read about them in a magazine (dark realms) and i just thought "wow, i have to check out this band". i ordered this cd and fell in love. Chasing the Ghost is amazing. It's haunting, it's seductive, it's emotional, making it a great listen. Wings of steel is probably one of my favorite songs on the album. The sounds of the rain and thunder at the beginning of the song are a perfect touch, added to the whole "gothickness" of this particualar song. kaRIN's vocals are beautiful. It really adds to the mood of the whole cd, making it even better and more enjoyable to listen too. Chasing the Ghost is a wonderful cd, and everyone should at least check it out, because if you dont, you are truely missing out on an amazing industrial/gothic band.

5 out of 5 stars SHEER BRILLENCE (and then some)   August 3, 2002

Normally I dont write album reviews, but this is a truely remarkable album. There should be a warning sticker on the cover saying that it is more addictive than crack cocaine- yes, boys and girls it is that good.

If you like-Faithless, Sisters of Mercy, Massive Attack, Delerium, Portishead, Garbage or Curve you will more than love this.

The CD combines an absolutly gorgeous female voice with stunning soundscapes and grooves which hit you in various ways.

The closest that can be compared to is Curve, who despite my great love for have well and truely been knocked off there perch. Dont pass this album up!

5 out of 5 stars Collide's Kiss   September 30, 2003

So you want to know about this album. Well, after being introduced to Collide (www.collide.net) I found music that brings me to another level. This album was my first taste. Like your first taste of love. When you take that first bite, you want more and more. In general this album is not what you would expect. kaRIN and Statik have managed to capture mulitple influences and put them all together in one album. You might ask, who can I compare this band too. That is a hard question to answer. Take all the passionate emotion in you, mix it with angelic vocals and creative sounds and rythms and you will find yourself chasing down the sound that is Colldie. Like a ghost, the music will haunt you,and you will want more. If you like music that is dark and powerful, sensual and alluring, erotic like the kiss of a vampire, then maybe, you should click the buy button and when you get the CD, sit back and enjoy the sounds of Collide.

1 out of 5 stars Pop meet Goth, Goth Pop   June 5, 2005

Take Avril Lavigne in ten years when she is trying to reinvent herself and you have Collide. Replace her guitar with that annoying reverb vocal effect that Cher made so popular a few years back and you have what I call Goth Pop.

Really, by the time I got to song 3 I was totally annoyed and was wondering how much the resale record shop would give me for it.
