When will it end? November 21, 2006 11 out of 22 found this review helpful
I actually had somewhat high hopes for this album. Daughtry showcased his impressive vocal capabilities along with an appreciation for the classics on American Idol, so I thought his album might be a fusion of those two qualities. Wrong. The music on this album is utterly indistinguishable from the legions of other "alternative" artists on the radio today. Simple guitar riffs repeated over and over, yawn-inducing percussion, cookie-cutter song structure...when will this "alternative" wasteland finally be done away with? I anxiously await the day.
Great "Classic" Sound November 22, 2006 11 out of 15 found this review helpful
I love all types of music from Keith Urban, Justin Timberlake, to Josh Groban. I have been waiting for this CD since the day he was unjustly voted off of AI. It is wonderful and exactly what I hoped it would be. He has a classic rock sound, but not to "head banging" rock. He sounds original and really did stick to his roots. It appears that he wrote or helped write about 85% of the songs. He is really, really good and I hope he is on the music scene for a long time. An earlier review suggested a "freeway driving" CD. It really is. One of those that you can crank up and drive with the sun roof open. I really liked "It's not over", "Over you" and "All these lives". Great CD. Hope for much more from Daughtry in the future. One of my favorites!
Best Idol Album yet November 23, 2006 11 out of 15 found this review helpful
I was not the only one who was shocked when Chris was voted off even though Katharine McPhee forgot her lyrics that night (apparently that was enough to vote off Melissa early on but not Katharine when it mattered even more). This is by far the best Idol-spawned album yet. I was hoping that I would see his name in the credits of songs written and there it was. I don't recall any past Idol contestant being allowed to have any songs that they authored/co-authored on their debut CD. "Home" is a lovely tribute to his family and his wife, a woman who held down 2 jobs while he was on Idol so he could follow his dream. I have NEVER written a review before on ANYTHING, but this CD is so awesome I had to say something. I, too, knew that even if Chris didn't make it to the end, his CD would generate quite a stir. Week after week on Idol, the judges, including Simon Cowell, said his performances would hold up "in the real world." Randy would say he could be recording right now. Even my husband was impressed and that is saying something right there! Kelly Clarkson -- watch out! Chris' star is on the rise! I believe he will surpass you in fame in just a very short time. Every song on this CD is top 10 potential. This artist proved on Idol that he could take any song and make it his own. Not many of them over the years could do that. This is not just someone with a good voice who can sing any song. There is other musical talent behind the voice! Buy this. You will not be disappointed.
Whatever....... November 28, 2006 11 out of 25 found this review helpful
Nickleback and Creed called and they want their songs and sound back. Good Cd but sounds like too many other bands out right now.
No thanks December 13, 2006 11 out of 31 found this review helpful
I don't recommend this CD. Can you just buy a single? May as well since almost everything sounds the same. This guy needs a personality.
