Worth a listen June 19, 2008 This is not the best album I've heard in a while, but I definitely like it. She has an awesomely-unique voice, which makes it easy to listen to. Her style is a bit retro, and she can really wail it out when she needs to. I don't love all the songs on the album, but I really enjoy 7 out of the 10 songs in the album. And to be honest, when an entire album has more than 3 good songs, that's already quite an accomplishment, because it does not happen often.
Amazing! June 19, 2008 This is the most enjoyable CD I've listened to in a very long time. I can't wait for more from Duffy.
I was very pleased. June 19, 2008 This was delivered to me quickly and in perfect form. The c.d. itself is wonderful. Duffy is very talented and the music is soulfull. This is a must for summer music this year.
empty forgettable lyrics spoil an otherwise strong CD June 22, 2008 There's an excellent layered warmth to the studio production of all of these tracks. Sorry but I am less impressed by the deeply boring lyrics. Warwick Avenue is easily the best track with its sustained melody and great closing moments. Problem is -- Duffy is a young woman and it shows repeatedly in the teenage-genre lyrics. Her singing is capable but a bit too high register for the material. Folks should check out Dusty Springfield's music if they are giving Duffy 5 stars -- Dusty's husky sexy singing voice can sing circles around Duffy's.
Just terrific! June 22, 2008 Album of the year, so far. Mercy is a great record but it's not even the stand out track - that goes to Delayed Devotion, which is simply sublime. If you don't own this yet how can you look at yourself in the mirror!
