Behold, the stars are as one... August 27, 2005 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Impressive musickal accompanyment serving as a fitting tribute to H.P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos. Magnificenty dark and brooding, narrations and incantations enhance this sonic novel as the lavishly decorated booklet serves as a veritable playlist, as phantasmagoric visions manifest in the shadows of your mind. They are as 'real' as you wish them to be...
A decidedly Middle-Eastern influence is noticable here, with sporadic sounds of sitars and finger cymbals join to create a serpantine embience reminiscent of an ancient temple. The prime Alla Xuls Yog-Sothoth, Azathoth, Nyarlathotep, Dagon, and of course, Cthulhu are specifically addressed, with character descriptions of each. [sans Shub-Niggurath...]
Suspend disbelief and open the gates of the swirling abyss when the CD case is unsealed and The Old Ones call up from the depths.
Surprisingly good! October 25, 2005 3 out of 6 found this review helpful
This is a themed tribute to the founder of modern horror - Howard Philips Lovecraft. While not a real masterpiece it it very well crafted. I like the slight arabic inspiration to the music, which rings well with the connection with our mad arab! I think that to really appreciate this music you should be a Lovecraft fan. As mood music for a good reading of Lovecraft or playing any Lovecraft inspired RPG of boardgame it is actually extremely good!
What music for an HP Lovecraft CD SHOULD sound like. October 28, 2005 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This cd is packed with powerful, ominous, and forebooding orchestrations. Nox Arcana tops themselves from their first cd Dark Lore Manor. This was inspired by the H.P. Lovecraft stories and it shows. Words cannot explain the spine tingling chants of arcane spells that raises goosebumps on the listener. An AWESOME awe inspiring cd to listen to. I recommend it highly for anyone who loves the darker things in life.
Simply Brilliant August 9, 2006 This is a hypnotic, dark symphony that perfectly captures the mood of the Lovecraftian Mythos. Listen to this in the quiet of night and be transported (metaphorically) across the vast gulfs of space and time to where great Cthulhu lies dreaming. This is the best HPL music I have ever heard, better than the music of Eric Zann.
The Mythos comes alive! October 31, 2006 This is the perfect companion for sitting down and reading the works of Lovecraft. It makes for wonderful ambience! Excellent.
