when I first got the album, I thought it was pretty whack. I listened to it again, i found three tracks ("La La", "Phone Home",and "Shoot Me Down) that i liked. upon the second listening, the album is still hot garbage. I totally agree with the user who said that you should go back and listen to his old stuff. That is where all his hotness is. Come on now. a five star album? yeah right. The fact that every single guest appearance on the album annihilated Waynes flow makes the album loose at least two stars. Wayne is taking the Martian theme way too far. He may look like Marvin the Martian but, he's using this as an excuse to not put out any effort anymore. speaking of effort, where has Wayne's flow gone. He is barley cohherant in the majority of the album (A mili especially. go back and really listen to a Mili. you come back and tell me what he said in that song that made sense at all. the flow is not even tight anymore. he claims he's a rockstar, but this album proves that he has a long way to go before he can compare himself to Bob Dylan, Jimmy Hendrix, and Kurt Cobain. This album is showing that the name Lil Wayne does not even deserve to grace ground that those great rockers walked on. comparing himself to them? please. those great men are probably rolling over in their graves at this disrespectful lil oompa-Loompa. Just because you do a lot of drugs does not automatically make you a rock star.
the album is all drugged out, discombobulated, jittery, high pitched, T-pain biting. thats the album in a nutshell. Old, Block is Hot, first Carter, Dedication 2, Drought is over 3, Gangsta lil Wayne is gone. Now, we just have a Junkie who's too damn wasted to make a decent track anymore.

it's like he acts like he got way too cool to produce a good cd. Yah, I'm so far up there you won't even notice I chilled through the whole thing and it sucks. Yah, we noticed.

Well i'm just gonna break it down to you, C3 it's a pretty decent album. When i first heard it my first impression of this cd was toilet trash, But i started to go back, and gave it a few more listen to it on the record, and it actually grew on me. The delivery in metaphors was 50/50 but it still got the mood to strike to nod your head into. So my final words, If your going to buy C3 for lyrics i warn you your wasting your cake, Now if your buying it to bump into the beats with the sound of his flow, Now thats a different story. My final result is that C3 might be a near classic, But not instant classic, But it's worth a record to pick up.
 Great beats plus great flow make this a must have hip-hop album. June 10, 2008

I currently live in Germany and am in the Army. Went to my local PX (Post Exchange) to browse around and see what was new, and lo and behold there was "Tha Carter III" sitting on the shelf. This was on Tuesday (the 3rd of June). Couldn't believe my eyes as I (and many others) have been waiting for this release for awhile. While I'm sure others might have gotten their grubby lil' paws on this somehow as well, I just thought I'd give you all the "Official" track listings and my overall view of the album.

Overall, the album is rock solid. The beats are sick and catchy, and there is a nice balance between harder songs and slower songs as well. Lil' Wayne's lyrics are as catchy as ever, and I can honestly say that I can pretty much listen to this whole CD without skipping songs. It all flows together very nicely. I would have loved to have heard some more big rappers find their way onto this CD, but overall the guys who do make an appearance make it worthwhile.

The rest of the songs aren't bad either. These are just the ones I always find myself getting caught up in. Very solid album and looks to have some lasting appeal. Lil' Wayne fans shouldn't be disappointed at all.
Overall: 4 1/2 stars out of 5

Finally we have the Carter 3, I must say it is what I expected from Lil Wayne....metaphors scattered all about. I guess this will fit the mold of what's currently going on in the industry (Rick Ross comes to mind). Admittedly, the records has a few high points with appearances from Jay-Z, Busta Rhymes, and Bun B (who all out shined Wayne). However, left to stand along, Wayne is mediocre at best. The album will become an instant hit with the teenie boppers, but not with the grown ups...give us substance.
