Highly Recommended January 30, 2002 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
I bought this CD because I recognized the tunes from when I was younger. I have not seen the movie, nor do I really have any intention to; however, I love this CD. If you enjoy groups like New Order, The Cure, Depeche Mode but desire something a little harder you will love this CD. I really like Stabbing Westwards remake of "Bizarre Love Triangle." The song I bought the CD for is Mansons cover of "Tainted Love," I love it! I'm glad somebody got the idea of doing harder remakes of some of the best 80's tunes. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to load the changer with this CD and my Ramones!:-)
Just what I've always wanted! May 27, 2002 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I love it when cool newer bands cover old 80s tunes, and this soundtrack has nothing but. The moment I heard Phantom Planet's cover of "Somebody's Baby" I was totally hooked. Good Charlotte's "If You Leave" and Goldfinger's "99 Red Balloons" are awesome. The whole CD rocks!!
Updates, not Imitations May 17, 2005 6 out of 8 found this review helpful
As somebody who grew up in the 80's the last thing I need is a soundtrack full of imitations of songs from that time that aren't done as well as the origional. That is why I thoroughly enjoyed this CD! The songs are all recognizable, but have been hardened a bit. Again, Nena did a great job on 99 luftballons, I don't need another group just trying to re-do that version. But here it was turned into a heavier beat laden song that blended really well with the rest of CD. Maralyn Mansons Tainted Love, Orgy's Blue monday. Versions of Somebody's Babe origionally by Jackson Brown and even new versions of Please Please Please let me get what I want origionally by Morrisey and and New Orders Bizzar Love Triangle all combine to make this an outstanding CD that not only makes you nostalgic but reintroduces you to older songs and allows you enjoy them again in fresh but still recognizable versions. Been on continual high rotation in my car since I got it over a year ago. I absolutly recomend this one.
Cover City! Pretty good stuff. December 23, 2001 5 out of 9 found this review helpful
To start with, I am a big fan of Marilyn Manson and Stabbing Westward, because of the two cover songs on the album from both of them, I decided to pick up the CD. Manson's cover of Tainted Love, is the most popular song on the soundtrack, but everything else is well worth a listen. Incase the world needed one more cover of Bizarre Love Triangle, Stabbing Westward is there to do it on the soundtrack with an upbeat and happy drum beat. 99 Red Balloons, I am no Goldfinger fan, but this song is so awesome, it starts out like the original song, but then breaks down into a little metal song with speeding lyrics. Its also good to hear the song in English! But Not Tonight, is mellow and trippy, but sounds very amateur. Finally, Saliva's song Message Of Love, sounds much like Marilyn Manson's Beautiful People. Its all a very good Alternative CD, even if its full of cover songs.

The song where priscilla is walking in with her girlfriends is from Imperial Teen-Yoo Hoo, and I do agree, they should've put it in the soundtrack, but what can ya do.
