THE CHILD DEVIANT February 14, 2007 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
All of the songs on this album follow the same format...they begin with hardrock guitar sounds..the lyric sections are backed by a layer of 1980's pop beats..and the chorus sections take you into the whole neo gothic metal feel. Despite the consistency of this album...it's quite catchy and hard not to like. Unique female vocals, excellent musicianship, and overall, with this being a debute album, The Birthday Massacre have invented a style of thier own. as for thier perky image, they do look like another dark and bubbly "Hot Topic Band"...But, in truth, they are kinda creative and original. If your not caught up in being a gothicly correct purist who thinks all new music is fluff...you'll probably find yourself enjoying this album. It's different...yes, it's verry, verry, goth, ...but it's also kinda fun and playful in an unusual way. It's a good record. Well worth taking a chance on.
Its very good music its twisted! April 2, 2007 I loved it when I heard just one song I knew I had to but it! The birthday massacre is a awsome band from canada! The musics like twisted but really good techno-electric sounding with alternitive rock! lovers end is my favorite song! Its like the lyrics are about love and then just kinda like heartbreaking something like that! Very pleased it rox believe me!!!1
Oh.My.God. January 20, 2007 The Birthday Massacre has become one of my favorite bands in any genre. I discovered them from a site that said that they are industrial. Expecting to hear another Skinny Puppy ripoff, I listened to the song "Holiday". When it was done, I was left speechless. My jaw dropped to the floor. I had never heard a song like that before in my life. Nothing short of utter perfection. Their sound includes many different styles such as Dark Wave, Industrial, Electronica, and Synth Rock. After listening to the album in its entirety, I came to the conclusion that this band NEEDS to be famous and I hope they do become famous because they deserve it. If you like any type of electronic music at all, I think you should give The Birthday Massacre a listen. Violet is probably one of the most under-rated releases of 2005.
excellant May 10, 2007 When I heard them I was blown away, I enjoy listening to their music over and over and not get tired of listening to them , her vocals are wonderful, I can't wait till their next album..I recommmend you buy the cd you won't be dissapointed that a fact..
Great Find May 13, 2007 A friend sent me a video for "Happy Birthday" for my birthday, what a gift...This album is great from start to finish. Violet is still in my CD player over a month after my first listen, I can't get enough. I can't wait for their new album in August and the re-release of "Nothing and Nowhere" June 2nd!!!!
