Amazing. On The Same Level As Violet September 14, 2007 I had doubts that The Birthday Massacre could ever put out an album that was on the same level as Violet. Thankfully I was incorrect in my assumptions. Walking With Strangers still has the signature sound of TBM, but there is definately a slightly different approach here. Songs such as "Looking Glass", and "Movie", are relatively experimental for this band, which is a good thing in this case. The album's highlight, "Weekend", is worth the price of the entire CD by itself. If you enjoyed The Birthday Massacre in the past, then Walking With Strangers will be a welcome addition to your music library.
1. Kill The Lights - 5/5 2. Goodnight - 5/5 3. Falling Down - 4.5/5 4. Unfamiliar - 5/5 5. Red Stars - 5/5 6. Looking Glass - 5/5 7. Science - 5/5 8. Remember Me - 5/5 9. To Die For - 5/5 (Old version is much better though) 10. Walking With Strangers - 4.5/5 11. Weekend - 5/5 12. Movie - 5/5
Very nice and hypnotic Sound September 29, 2007 When i first heard of this band through a friend. When i heard BLUE i was in love with this band!!! I have bought everything they have made in 2 weeks time, I saw them Live a week ago and They completely ROCKED THE PLACE!! They are a very talented band that deserves to be recognized and places within the Ranks of Evanescence and Within Temptation!! You will not regret getting this for yourself or a rock fan!!! 10 STARS!!
Walking with awesomeness October 6, 2007 What can I say about the new Birthday Massacre album? Well for starters it surpasses the previous album (Violet) in everyway, sound quality, lyrical, quality and just the sheer feeling the soongs give you. This CD seems to take you on a journey from start to finish... so close your eyes, and let the well thought lyrics and music take you into a world of great imagination.
Delicious--like a new wave Book of Love for the new millennium October 12, 2007 Book of Love is just one of numerous synth groups of the 80s whose fans could easily become fans of Birthday Massacre. There isn't a song on here that I don't want to here again and again, from dancey synth pop, to more gothic rock stuff, and often, a fusion of both. Many of Birthday Massacre's accessible yet unique pop sensibilities, melodies and arrangements are the same that attracted me to Book of Love back in the 80s. They, like bands such as Shiny Toy Guns and The Faint, also manage to bring a distinctly modern flavor to the music. It is ashame that bands like this aren't getting much, if any, radio play.
I see many fans of the band aren't as keen on this CD as "Violet", which was darker and moodier, but it also had a few tracks that definitely foreshadowed many of the upbeat songs on this CD. Despite which of the two CDs I'm listening to, I'm hooked on Birthday Massacre.
I feel anyone could love this October 13, 2007 Finally a CD I had been looking for that didn't disappoint! I was really nervous when the first song of this album started. I've loved everything in the past by The Birthday Massacre, but I always get worried when I start listening to something new by a band I love so much. I was hooked instantly and even gave a loud HOORAY.
The songs are hard to explain and put into words, so you must give them a listen to see what everyone (well, almost everyone) is raving about! I don't suspect you'll be too disappointed, you'll just be lured into that addictive melody that either makes you want to sing along or get up on a chair and invent your own dance.
