 Very sloppy pressing June 7, 2008

Beware! Very sloppy pressing. I returned my first copy because record one had little gobs of a sticky foreign substance (glue from inner sleeve?) stuck on each side. I did my best to gently remove it, but the gunk was down in the grooves and was impossible to remove; and caused the record to skip in each case. I cleaned the record THREE TIMES on my VPI record cleaning machine - to no avail. I returned that copy. The second copy also had a two minute bits of foreign matter on side one track one of record one that caused skips. With a lot of effort, I was able to get them out. Bear in mind that I have been collecting records for 30+ years. I insured that everything about my rig was in proper order. This is just ridiculous!
FOLLOWUP - I contacted Classic Records by email and phone to make them aware of my situation. I got a phone call from a most courteous and concerned employee who was very sympathetic to my situation. They followed up with an offer to replace my defective disks (blue vinyl by the way) which I enthusiastically accepted. I received them the other day and I must say the replacements are everything the originals were not. They sound superb and I am most pleased. It is so refreshing to see a record label display such sincere interest in the needs of a humble customer. Well done, Classic Records! THANK YOU!

I just have one word to describe this album; Brilliant! This album has been one of the best piece in recent years. It's so good to hear awesome musicians from all over the world come together for a fantastic project.
I have been a big fan of PG and Afro Celts for a long time now..So, to hear my favourite artists along with other great musicians from around the world gives me goose bumps. I have been playing this album the most, amongst other music collection I have been listening to, since I bought it a week back.
We need more of these collaborations..

This is a great CD. I wasn't sure what to expect, but being a loyal Peter Gabriel fan I gave it a try and it is well worth it.

"Whole Thing" was being played in some store. I recognized Peter Gabriel and thought that the song was great, so I bought the album. Never imagined the whole album would be so good! I guess the "Big Blue Ball" is planet Earth, and great music is what comes out of it. Papa Wemba vocals and flamenco guitar, Sinead O'Connor and Chinese percussion, a Madagascan rapper, the ethereal "altus silva" (perhaps my favorite) with guitar synths and Papa Wemba's band. Absolutely original world music, out of this world!

For those of us who cannot get enough Peter Gabriel, the recent release, Big Blue Ball, represents a great new collection of music with different styles represented, and a lot of soul throughout. It's a must have for any Gabriel fan, and for anyone who loves a mixture of beats and melodies. Enjoy!
