By far best goth of 90's February 13, 2000 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This, to me, is the best gothic cd of the dull 90's in the goth scene. in the tradition of Siouxsie and the Banshees, Switchblade Symphony delivers dark poetic lyrics accompined with moody, dreamy, experimental sounding music. Best listened in the middle of the night with the eyes closed. Tina Root places images of flowers, darkness, dollhouses, and other shadowy figures in your mind, and this to me is pure genius. They break the barrier of music, and not just deliver songs but movie like imagery. Starting with the goth rock sounding Bad Trash, and ending with the skipping,(purposefully), piano accompined Bloody Knuckles, the listener will get a treat full of candies aand flowers. Buy this, you wont be dissapointed.
The spirit of Grace Slick is alive and well December 3, 2000 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Forget labels, forget the way they dress.
This record is an excellent piece of 90's electronic psychedelia, with lyrics that are hardly as eeeevil as some folks here would make them out to be. As a first album, this record contains several years' worth of tested material.
But what makes this group stand head and shoulders above its peers is the phenomenal voice of Tina Root. Think: Grace Slick with -range-. Unlike some of her contemporaries, she knows her lyrics won't carry the impact they should, unless she e-nun-ci-ates. Just about every track sounds like a -White Rabbit- with 90's electronic instrumentation.
I know I like music like that. If you think you would, forget the scene, forget the clothes, this is a good record.
yes, this is my time of metamorphosis May 9, 2003 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
"She is flying soaring through the air up there my butterfly..." makes me think of something growing and transforming into a new phase of life. To escape from the old and the past, to be ready for new change and freshness. Like other songs this song is lifelike in the mood of meditation, somewhat emotional moody but brilliant. This is more than goth or industrial, the sound is very unique and strange with much of interesting elements in the music. It's good to enjoy the songs through at nights when it's dark and You have to be in the mood. Switchblade Symphony means so much to me, I recall that back in the time of my desperate loneliness, there were only of those sweet songs caressed my soul. I accidentally found switchblade symphony CDs in a local music store in North Dallas and ever since the band has helped me through in my transformation of life. Listening to Switchblade Symphony's songs is very much a great experience to me, it's not only dark, sooth, alienated, and lonesome, the music contains much of deep emotions and brilliant thoughts about life and beyond. Great thanks to Tina and Susan for the courage and great songs that are always my fav. For me, listening to those songs created a catalyst for my own thoughts and metaphysic of seeing life through; something such as if there is no such a sadness there is no way we can see things that called happiness. All of everything and concepts are up to human's mind. Period.
Their best album May 23, 2004 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
This is one of those rare CDs in which all songs sound brilliant and different. Sure I have my faviourites but there are honestly no songs that you can complain about on this CD. Who cares if it's goth or not stop complaining about the vocals, they suit this style of music and the lyrics are also well done and poetic.

Absolutely one of the most incredible Gothic albums of all time. This is Goth in every way, shape, and form. A must for any dark culture enthusiast, or mystic introspector.
