Excellent CD, as expected from Midnight Syndicate September 19, 2002 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
Vampyre: Symphonies from the Crypt, the new CD from Midnight Syndicate. What can I say? This CD is very good to listen to in the dark, because it makes you forget about reality and transports you into a world where Vampires and zombies live. If you listen to each of the other works by Midnight Syndicate, you will notice that the music keeps getting better and the arrangements more refined. This music would be at home in any of the extremely popular horror films, past and present. Also, this music is excellent to set the spooky mood, for Halloween parties, haunted houses, and just about anywhere you want to set the mood. I find it translates equally well coming out a hidden boom box as you hand out candy on Halloween. You really surprise people, and scare some kids. Because of their smooth, refined arrangements and their unique ability to enable the listener to journey to mystic places, Midnight Syndicate will continue to take us to places we have never been before.
Great CD for many different occasions November 6, 2003 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is my very favoriate Midnight Syndicate CD, and I love them all. We make horror games, so the background music is perfect for the creative mind, not to mention freaking the kids out. I've heard all of their CDs many, many times and still truly enjoy listening to them. I highly recommend this CD!
Midnight Syndicate: Master Thespians of the Mind's Theatre March 18, 2004 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Again, Midnight Syndicate succeeds in delivering another compilation of haunting compositions to stimulate listeners' imaginations. "Graveyard," the second brooding track of this album, is reason enough to buy "Vampyre." While there are fewer sound effects and ambient noises on this album, the music is no less atmospheric. The dynamic duo of Midnight Syndicate is brilliant and worthy of being enlisted to produce film scores for famed horror directors like John Carpenter. Whether or not this ever happens, Midnight Syndicate will remain the masters of gothic horror soundtracks.
Not bad February 10, 2005 5 out of 11 found this review helpful
This is not that bad, as previous report put it. This music is created for playing background, for example, when I'm cleaning up my room, I put this, or when I'm killing people, I also put it in the walkman - I mean, this music creates an atmosphere, while still it doesn't disturb you neither interrupts in what you're currently doing, you keep on being concentrated. But, for example, such songs as "blackest rose", is very good even if being carefully listened. It is not that bad, really.
Not as much "oomph" as their last effort September 16, 2002 4 out of 8 found this review helpful
"Vampyre" isn't a BAD album, but there's nothing in it that grabbed me as much as their previous album, "Gates of Delerium." There is a somber beauty to the songs, but they all share pretty much the same vibe. It's about as good as their second disc, "Realm of Shadows."There are signs of life. "Winged Fury" is structured very similar to my favorite MS track to date, "Dark Discovery." The closing "Vampyre" is a good chorus-of-the-damned march. Overall, the arrangements are fairly simple and clean. The intensity rarely varies throughout. It has the sonic feel of an Imax halloween film. Gimme those highs and lows, those swirling dynamics that really transport the listener to a darker place. Each Midnight Syndicate album has a loosely built storyline. If they settle on the right concept next time up, they'll knock it out of the park. Out of the graveyard. Whatever...
