So much hype, but disappointing... November 8, 2007 2 out of 8 found this review helpful
I have been looking forward to this release for quite a while. Simply, i'm not impressed with it. So far every reviewer before me has had nothing but praise; maybe it will be one of those albums that needs several listens and time to grow. I think the drumming is pretty ordinary too, as I much preferred Paul Bostaph on the last 2 albums. Overall it is a slower album than SHKM.
Highlights of the album would be tracks 7 (Iconoclasm) and 9 (Bedlam 123). If you are new to the Exodus sound, then I definately would NOT start with this album.

The Atrocity Exhibition: Exhibit A (2007)
Okay, so you are all wondering, why did I not care for this? Well, let me tell ya.
This is a glorified heavy metal album. The "thrash" that Exodus is well known for is not really here. By not really is the final two tracks are all that is thrash. The rest of this is rather mundane and is at times gets rather slow.
Following up "Shovel Headed Kill Machine", Exodus falls flat on their faces. SHKM was still a nice slab of thrash. Tempo was a fantastic return to form. This is nothing like their previous. Their are a few neat guitar solos and Tom Hunting's drumming is always great, but the rest is not worthy of my attention.
Artwork: Cool Choice Cuts:The Garden of Bleeding, Bedlam 1-2-3 Forgettable Ones: The rest of the album Final Verdict: Skip this. Casual metalheads will not be pleased, Exodus fans will hate this one with a passion. Just download the choice cuts and leave the rest alone.
the benchmark of thrash metal June 7, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The majority of music I listen to is thrash metal, Machine Head, Soilwork, Testament, FFDP, The Haunted, Hurtlocker, Sworn Enemy, Etc..... I remember hearing of Exodus before I started really getting into thrash metal. They've been around since Metallica, but I never heard their songs before. I listened to the samples from this album on Amazon.com but I wasn't hooked right off the bat, but I decided to give it a shot and bought this album anyway. That decision upset me. It upset me because I couldn't believe I went so long without listening to these guys. This is honestly, the first time I wished my car stereo went louder. These guys are unbelievable!! I have to lower the ratings on my other albums because like the title of this review says, this album is THE benchmark to which all other thrash metal bands should hope to achieve. There isn't one bad song on it. If you consider yourself a fan of thrash metal and you haven't heard this album, then you do not know what thrash metal is. I now know. I've been fooling myself all this time. Trust me when I say there is no other album that even comes close to this. 6 out of 5 stars.
Better Than Shovel October 23, 2007 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
Riffs are bigger and meatier, more melodic work too. Lee Altus of HEateh and Gary Throw Down some great riffs. Also The Drummer on the throne is Tom Hunting who is an original member as well so actually its two original members.
It Doesn't Get Any Better Than This October 23, 2007 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
Everything comes together on this, Exodus' 8th studio album. The song writing, musicianship, and stellar production are what makes this the best thing they have done since "Bonded". If you truly love Metal, then you'll have to buy this one! Enough said.
