1 out of 5 stars So sad....   March 17, 2008

All I can say is, extremely sad and pathetic. Did they really need the money this badly? It's as if they are trying way too hard to play like the sloppy young blokes they once were, but are definitely NOT anymore. The really sad thing is that they have each done a lot more sophisticated music on their own, but then they actually decided they wanted to play this stuff again? They should've left themselves the legend they were.
We love you boys, but go back to your respective musical corners and back to really creating the music that's in you! Longtime Bauhaus fans, beware! Listen to any clips you can online BEFORE purchasing!

5 out of 5 stars what did you expect from such a record?   March 17, 2008

I've been a Bauhaus fan since "bela lugosi's dead", through "dark entries" and "telegram sam" , ending at " burning from the inside".
then Peter's Murphy "should the world...."and tones on tails 1st album were really the last records that interested me from the Bauhaus galaxy.....after ... well nothing ...the black hole....till the resurrection beginning 2000. had seen them in concert in 81 , good old memories and again in 2002 and was impressed of their maturity but it was nothing else than nostalgia (not like Wire for example)....Now a NEW album...oh no did they really need more money, I was thinking? But this time I was wrong: they really have new inspiration and the magical touch is still of application: the typical Bauhaus characteristics are back here, there are even moments of trance (adrenalin).... so I repeat my question: what did you expect? if like me, not much, then you'll be surprised, I'll assure you. It's an absolute go.

4 out of 5 stars Too much Peter Murphy   March 27, 2008

I recently download this album via MP3 format, I liked just about every song. I am a kind'a new fan to Bauhaus, I was introduced to them about a year ago. I am familiar with 'Love and Rockets' and Peter Murphy's solo career. The biggest problem with the album is that over the course of 23 years Peter Murphy caught onto a different singing style which can be very noticable on some tracks, and that just took away from the whole Bauhaus feel to those tracks. But I still give the album a 4 star because you do have to realize it's been 23 years since they recoreded a new album and you can't expect a bands sound to stay the same, but the tracks are really good and most reminded me of the older albums. I say get this album if you're a fan of Bauhaus and Peter Murphy's solo work. If you're new to the band get one of the older albums just so you will know what they were like back then.

2 out of 5 stars Disappointing   March 30, 2008

I've been a long-time Bauhaus fan since back in the early 80's, and I was rather disappointed in this album. It sounds like a Peter Murphy solo work... not bad at all, but not Bauhaus by any means. The gritty old Bauhaus sound is definitely gone, and maybe I shouldn't have expected it to be there anyway, but I did. I had a good time seeing them on their reunion tours over the past few years; it was obvious from those shows that a bit of the old fire had gone, and yet they were still jamming well together and were a joy to see. It doesn't, however, translate well into a new studio recording. This album shouldn't have happened. Again, maybe I expected too much, but I wouldn't recommend this recording to any hardcore Bauhaus fan unless you just want to complete your collection.

2 out of 5 stars Should of left history alone   April 15, 2008

Very dissapointed with this album. Have been a long time fan of Bauhaus, Peter Murphy, Love and Rockets, and Tones on Tail. I tried liking this album but acutally found Endless Summer of the Damned irratating. The background vocals hit the nerve. Too Much 21st century is the best song on the album. If you want to remember Bauhaus the way they have been I wouldn't buy this album.
