5 out of 5 stars A really great tribute to Black Sabbath (finally)!   September 26, 2000

Finally, a great metal tribute to a great metal band that's not full of about 30 unheard-of or washed-up rockers who all collaberate to make a bunch of wasted songs. This CD has heart, and is a fitting tribute to Black Sabbath. Of course, no covers of Sabbath's songs could come close to the originals, but that's not the fault of the bands on this CD. Black Sabbath was simply one of the greatest bands of all time. However, these bands churn out rocking efforts that definitely make this CD worth buying.

The best tracks are Children Of The Grave by White Zombie, Paranoid by Megadeth, Supernaut by 1,000 Homo DJ's w/Al Jourgensen, Iron Man by Ozzy Osbourne w/Therapy?, The Wizard by Bullring Brummies, and Black Sabbath by Type O Negative.

The surprise on this CD is Bullring Brummies cover of "The Wizard." This song has long been one of my favorite Sabbath songs, and Bullring Brummies does it justice. It's fun to listen to, and is a great track. White Zombie's "Children of the Grave" is another absolute standout, as White Zombie and Black Sabbath are very similar bands, and if anyone's capable of making a great Sabbath cover, it's White Zombie, and if Rob Zombie ever covers another Sabbath song, I'll be sure to check that out!

Overall, a great CD that I strongly recommend to fans of metal or Black Sabbath.

Black Sabbath truly is the greatest metal band of all time. So it is no surprise that all of the rockers on this compliation were motivated by Sabbath to do what they do today. Whether they get in the Rock N' Roll Hall Of Fame or not Black Sabbath is really a legend. A HEAVY METAL LEGEND.

4 out of 5 stars Moisturizing, leaving your shoulders wet.   January 25, 2000

Yup, this is a major tribute. Allmost all of the songs sound enough like the originals, but still enough like the performers. I only have one complain: Why is there a gumpoppunkcombo such as Ugly Kid Joe in there. I'm sure Whitfield and the boys have dug Sabbath since when, but i just isn't the premier group to perform on a metaltribute. I'm sure there were pleanty of other groups willing to play here.

2 out of 5 stars Not a Sabbath experience.   May 27, 2000

With all the efforts put into this album, and all the great bands' participation this album has nothing special to offer to the listener. The original recordings are next to impossible to duplicate, and none of the artists on this compilation have the doomy/dark feeling that the original Black Sabbath injected into the listener's veins.

2 out of 5 stars not that great   August 6, 1999

i'm not sure to whom this record was targeted at...but it sure as hell wasn't the sabbath fan. biohazard? ugly kid joe? most of this album is sadly lacking any intensity that the real black sabbath had...wake me when it's over.
